The local village of Pewsey is less than two miles away and boasts a good supermarket, butcher, baker, petrol station, garage, Indian restaurant, cafes and pubs and it also has a railway station with a fast train service to London and the West Country. No smoking is allowed in the cabins but can be enjoyed outside under the cover of the veranda. Well behaved dogs welcome and verandas now have gates therefore secure for dogs and young children. delightful lodge, lovely setting, perfect for pooch
It's s lovely to find somewhere that has been kitted out thoughtfully. Is lovely and cosy ( it was bitterly cold outside) and has fantastic light. All the information is clear, and Nicky makes everything easy to arrange. It's great for creatives - plenty to paint and photograph. The lodge is full of light. A great place to grab a break.

Beautiful & cosy log cabin!
We stayed for the Easter weekend 2013 in River Birch and were so happy when we arrived and saw how beautiful the cabin was. It has been decorated to a very high standard and made super cosy that you feel 'at home' right away :) Everything in the cabin feels new and the place was immaculate!! The interiors and the design have really been thought through and provide a very luxurious and comfortable stay! River Birch has a gorgeous view of the lake with swans, ducks and birds always in sight. It also has the joy of feeling very private as it doesnt overlook anything or anyone! The surrounding area is just a small part of the beautiful English Countryside - there are plenty of walking tracks to keep you entertained ! I loved this place and will definately be recomending to my friends and hopefully going back again in summer :)

The good life
We had the most wonderful weekend away in a perfect log cabin in Pewsey. When we arrived the cabin was already heated up and ready for a cosy night in. There is so much attention to detail that we had everything we could possibly need. In the mornings I enjoyed the view out over the lake, watching the swans and ducks come and go. We visited nearby Marlborough the next afternoon for a lovely pub lunch. We hope to visit Willowbank lodges again very soon so we can explore more of the beautiful surrounding area.

Superb accomadation
Never stayed in a log cabin before so did not know what to expect. This was a great holiday that we thoroughly enjoyed. All you could need was provided in the lodge, it was warm, well decorated and furnished and we wanted for nothing in the kitchen. A large bath room provided a deep bath and a good shower along with a big sink, all with plenty of hot water. We would certainly go back and have another holiday there. Comments in the visitors book had been read by the owner and acted upon as we could see some of the improvements made. Thank you for the holiday, much appreciated.

Peaceful, Relaxing,Comfortable,Clean-Brilliant!
Have stayed in the bigger Lodges at Willowbank with the whole family but this time it was only myself and my teenage son who were travelling this time so we stayed in River Birch which is a smaller lodge. It housed everything we needed and was literally a smaller version of the bigger Lodges. Nothing is too much trouble for Nicky Wood the proprietor; she really does think of everything you may need whilst on holiday and, if she hasn't thought of it, she will certainly take on board any suggestions. Beautiful well equipped accommodation in beautiful surroundings - what more could you want. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone.

Great lodge in a beautiful location.
We booked this lodge for a short break on the spur of the moment. I phoned Nicky the owner at 9 am and by 4 pm the same day we were in the lodge. Nicky was very friendly and helpful, even putting the heating on as soon as we rang to ensure that we would be warm on arrival. The lodge was perfect for two people and very well equipped. We loved the huge bath, high quality bed linen, all the books to read and Mr Swan to keep us amused with his antics, chasing off all the other birds from the lake. Although the temperature was below zero for the whole of our stay, we were always warm and cosy in the lodge. The setting is very tranquil, just the sound of birds, and you feel completely away from everything, but there is a good sized supermarket nearby in Pewsey. We found lots of walks to enjoy from the doorstep. I would thoroughly recommend Willowbank Lodges for a restful holiday in beautiful surroundings.

Truly amazed by the quality of the accomodation"
Booked a long weekend at the end of January and was hoping for the best but bracing myself for a cold and miserable stay in basic accomodation. I couldnt have been more suprised. The quality of the lodges is amazing (wooden sheds they ain't...) and the interiors are spacious, well designed and equiped. I travel alot and am used to feeling mildly let down (at best) or totally ripped off (at worst) so its really refreshing to find somewhere that offers really good quality accomodation at a rate that won't break the bank. I can't say much for the setting as it was covered in snow/ice for most of my stay but it's tranquil and no doubt spectacular in spring/summer.

Most enjoyable holiday
We stayed at River Birch cabin Sept. 2012, I had selected this spot on the promises made on the website of Willow Bank Lodges; it would be peaceful, lovely view over the lake and in the countryside with good walks. All this proved to be absolutely true. The cabin itself was fantastic, spacious even for two people, good size bedroom with excellent beds! Since the weather was kind to us we were able to have breakfast on the balcony in the sun, with full view over the lake with all its wildlife. We loved the swans, although they could be a bit intimidating. All the instructions on how to get there and inside the cabin worked, Nicky Wood proved to be a good host, we were sure she would be there for us if necessary, but in our case it was not. Pewsey caters for all the essentials, good Indian take away and Bakery. Fascinating National Trust Properties within easy reach, good walks along the canal from the cabin, we had a wonderful time!

All expectations met
Lodge cabin exactly as described, met all our needs, fantastically comfortable bed. Lovely location and area. Joined for breakfast each morning by the swans (and seven cygnets) and the ducks. Canal path within 5 minutes walk from Willowbank, nature reserve well worth a visit. This visit was for a long weekend but will definitely return for a longer stay as so many walks in the area still to do.

Beautiful lodges in a stunning location
My husband and I stayed at Willowbank Lodges for a long weekend. If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful location in accommodation that has all the comforts of home then look no further! River Birch is the most private of the lodges and overlooks the lake; a big plus to this was watching that antics of the wildfowl, that would come right up to the lodge as soon as there was any sign of life. The lodges themselves are decorated and equipped to the highest standard - we stayed in most nights as we wanted to make the most of the wonderful accommodation! Willowbank Lodges are conveniently placed for trips to Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury and Devizes. Nicky is a welcoming and helpful host and we will definitely be returning!

About the neighbourhood
Pewsey is a charming little village which is less than two miles from Willowbank Lodges and, although small, boasts a surprising number of ameneties. We have an excellent supermarket open seven days a week, a butcher, baker (delicious old fashioned donuts and lardy bread!) petrol station, post office, bank, gift shops, florists, art gallery and visitor centre, internet cafe and various coffee shops and pubs. In addition, we have an excellent award winning tennis club where Willowbank Lodges has membership for its guests and a leisure centre with a swimming pool, squash courts, etc. Slightly further afield, Marlborough boasts a large variety of restaurants and pubs, boutiques, antique shops, two fine churches and has the widest high street in the country. Now it is probably more famous for its International Jazz Festival which takes place in July (13th-15th this year) – a glut of musicians and singers, new bands and old favourites from all over the world, really an experience not to miss. Another music festival taking place this year (April 14th) just north of Marlborough is OneFest with Damon Albarn giving us a preview of his Dr Dee. Local artists open up their studios (Open Studios) to the public during four weekends in July so what with other local musical and artistic events, plenty for those who want to absorb a little local culture. For those crop circle enthusiasts, we are right in the midst of crop circle country and usually there are quite a number of sometimes quite spectacular crop circles to be found on the Downs or in the Vale, within 10 minutes drive of Willowbank Lodges.

Notes from owner
The calendars show Friday to Friday prices though in the off peak seasons I can often accommodate other start dates so please do enquire. In the peak summer months I will occasionally take a Friday to Monday and Monday to Friday booking but am mostly looking for a minimum of a one week booking. Please note that the nightly rate shown is for a minimum three night stay. If you choose 4, 5 or 6 nights then the daily rate becomes cheaper so please ask for a quote and I will also accept some two night bookings depending on the time of year. Dogs are an additional £3 per dog per night. Currently I am adding a small fee of £20 to each booking to cover the additional laundry and cleaning costs as a result of Covid. Longer term and business lets also taken so please enquire for a quote.
