Cabin Holiday Rental
Heron's Nest log cabin, part of Willowbank Lodges, nestles in a small hamlet in the heart of the Pewsey Vale bordering the Kennet and Avon canal. The five luxury log cabins have been solidly built from Russian redwood and are situated in three and a half acres including a private lake and are surrounded by beautiful countryside and a wide variety of wildlife. Heron's Nest cabin directly overlooks the stream and facing due west, is the sunniest cabin on site so gets the sun in the early evening after everyone else has been cast into shade. Furthermore, the airports of London Heathrow, Bristol, Southampton and Bournemouth are between one and one and a half hours drive away. The local village of Pewsey is less than two miles away and boasts a good supermarket, butcher, baker, petrol station, garage, Indian restaurant, cafes and pubs and it also has a railway station with a fast train service to London and the West Country. No smoking is allowed in the cabins but can be enjoyed outside under the cover of the veranda. Well behaved dogs welcome and verandas now have gates therefore secure for dogs and young children. Very Special Place
Stayed midweek for four nights. Lovely quiet location to chill out and enjoy the surrounding area. The lodge was excellent and furnished to a very high standard. Ideal for visiting places like Marlborough, Devised and Bath. We would certainly return to this lovely tranquil haven.

A perfect holiday haven
My husband and I stayed in Heron's Nest for three nights while attending a family wedding nearby. We stay in self-catering places several times every year, both in UK and abroad, and this was way up with the very best. The cabin is beautifully and thoughtfully appointed, spacious, comfortable and spotless. The grounds of Willowbank Lodge are idyllic, with a stream running immediately in front of Heron's Nest and a lake in the grounds behind. Pewsey and shops are five minutes away by car, just in case. Highly recommended.

What a treat
We stayed in the Bullrush lodge for 3 nights over the New Year (2013/2014) and what a treat it was. We went as two young families with two toddlers. There was so much space available and the lodges we so well equipped we felt at home almost immediately. The location is excellent if you like long country walks and the outdoors. Pewsey town is only 1.5 miles away and the Market town of Malborough is a 10 minute drive. We will certainly be looking to return at some point in the summer perhaps, to see this beautiful area in all its glory

Lovely lodge in beautiful, relaxing setting
Have just returned from a one week stay in Heron's Nest, Willowbank Lodge, Wiltshire. The lodge is in a lovely setting with a lake and stream which are home to swans and ducks, also saw a heron early one morning. It is very well furnished and equipped, really comfortable bed, and lovely verandah to sit on with a glass of wine in the evening. We were extremely lucky with the weather, it was glorious the whole week (late Aug/early Sept) and there is so much to see and do in this beautiful county - Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock, Salisbury to name a few places we visited, but just tootling around the minor roads and discovering small villages with mostly thatched roofs and lovely pubs was equally as enjoyable! The owner lives nearby and is available if you need her but otherwise she keeps a low profile and lets you get on with enjoying your stay. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful place.

Fantastic accomodation in the most beautiful and tranquil setting you could ask for
If you are looking for a tranquil and peaceful location then this is the place for you. Set in a stunning part of the UK these lodges provide everything you could ask for.... and more. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable they are the ideal holiday accomodation, whilst still being great value for money. This is the ideal setting for those travelling with dogs as there is a fully enclosed balcony surrounding each lodge so they can be let easily but safe in the knowledge that they are secure. The cabins are set in a really peaceful location with a lovely lake surrounding them which is teaming with wildlife. The surrounding area provides hours of walking, with stunning views and great pubs on route for a drink and bite to eat. Cant wait to return- the best holiday cottage I have stayed in whilst holidaying in the UK!!

Lovely Lodge & Lovely Tranquil Setting
My husband and young daughter stayed at Heron's Nest over the May bank holiday weekend. We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was very clean & has a well equipped kitchen. The kitchen window overlooks the stream where you can see ducks & swans, which my daughter really enjoyed. A highchair was provided for her and a wooden cot (for a small fee). There were tourist leaflets and pamphlets provided. There is also a large selection of books and a couple board games. Basic items such as loo roll, kitchen towels, washing up liquid, cling wrap & foil were provided. The setting was lovely and you felt you were miles away from anywhere, but the local amenities of Pewsey were just under 2 miles away. The only thing I would think would put the icing on the cake would be if a food welcome hamper was provided with basic items such as eggs, bread & milk etc.

Magical
An amazing place to stay. We stayed in Heron Lodge which was so clean and well appointed. The grounds were immaculate and a pleasure to be around. We were lucky to see the Signets and a couple of ducks with their baby; plus a Moorhen. The two parent swans were also a joy to watch how they protected their young. Willowbank is definitely a return visit and not just a once off. Thank you Nicky for your efforts in bringing such an oasis for all to enjoy. Your presence was there but not intrusive which is reassuring to a good holiday. We are definitely coming back. Jan, David and Willow

Such a lovely, peaceful place
My husband booked a surprise birthday stay in Heron's Nest and it was wonderful! A romantic, cosy cabin sited right next to a stream that leads to the lake. Sited perfectly for trips to Devizes, Caen Locks and Avebury if you fancy a day out or plenty of walks along the canals and through the fields, we brought our dog along for the trip and he had a wonderful time and was shattered after walks along the canals each afternoon. Nicky is just lovely and has decorated the cabins beautifully and we had everything we could need. And she had kindly posted back my left behind items before I even realised they were missing! We will definitely be visiting Willowbank Lodges again, whether it be just the two of us or with friends in the larger cabins. It was such a lovely break! Thank you Nicky!

Beautiful Relaxing Bank Holiday break.
My Partner and I stayed here from the 29th March to the following Monday. I took this booking from a friend as she was unable to make it. The owner was very lovely and greed to let me and my partner take her place just 1 day before the planned stay. The owner Nicky lives across the road which is handy because we arrived around 8pm and as soon as we got there we locked ourselves out! But Nicky was on hand to let us in. The place is so peaceful and has beautiful surroundings, it has a massive pond/lake with ducks and swans. The lodge was like a little home and the first thing I remember is the smell of wood. The lodge was very cosy and homely with a spacious living room with a wood effect electric fire, the kitchen had everything you needed. We made a Lamb Shank dinner and Lasagne. The bedroom was a large double bedroom with the comfiest bed ever! Lots of storage to unpack your bits and a large bathroom attached to the bedroom. we didn’t really leave only to go into the town where we bought meat from the local butchers for tea and to go to a pub recommended by Nicky called the The French Horn where the food and service was fabulous. I definitely would come back, my review doesn’t do our experience there justice. Thanks for having us. Nic and Tom x

Fabulous weekend getaway
Cabin was fully kitted out and furnished to a high standard. Location was great as felt like you were in the middle of nowhere however all the amenities you needed in a few minutes drive. Several pubs and nice places to eat out within a short drive. Loads of chances for walking, however the weather was slightly too cold when we went and canal was very muddy due to the sheer amount of rain. Beautiful countryside and very amenable host. Good value for money.

About the neighbourhood
Pewsey is a charming little village which is less than two miles from Willowbank Lodges and, although small, boasts a surprising number of ameneties. We have an excellent supermarket open seven days a week, a butcher, baker (delicious old fashioned donuts and lardy bread!) petrol station, post office, bank, gift shops, florists, art gallery and visitor centre, internet cafe and various coffee shops and pubs. In addition, we have an excellent award winning tennis club where Willowbank Lodges has membership for its guests and a leisure centre with a swimming pool, squash courts, etc. Slightly further afield, Marlborough boasts a large variety of restaurants and pubs, boutiques, antique shops, two fine churches and has the widest high street in the country. Now it is probably more famous for its International Jazz Festival which takes place in July (13th-15th this year) – a glut of musicians and singers, new bands and old favourites from all over the world, really an experience not to miss. Another music festival taking place this year (April 14th) just north of Marlborough is OneFest with Damon Albarn giving us a preview of his Dr Dee. Local artists open up their studios (Open Studios) to the public during four weekends in July so what with other local musical and artistic events, plenty for those who want to absorb a little local culture. For those crop circle enthusiasts, we are right in the midst of crop circle country and usually there are quite a number of sometimes quite spectacular crop circles to be found on the Downs or in the Vale, within 10 minutes drive of Willowbank Lodges.

Notes from owner
The calendars show Friday to Friday prices though in the off peak seasons I can often accommodate other start dates so please do enquire. In the peak summer months I will occasionally take a Friday to Monday and Monday to Friday booking but am mostly looking for a minimum of a one week booking. If you choose 4, 5 or 6 nights then the daily rate becomes cheaper so please ask for a quote and I will also accept some two night bookings depending on the time of year. Dogs are an additional £3 per dog per night. Currently I am adding a small fee of £20 to each booking to cover the additional laundry and cleaning costs as a result of Covid. Longer term and business lets taken so please enquire for a quote.
