My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing week in this beautiful cottage with out 5 month old son. The cottage is a well equipped and characterful property in a small hamlet with lovely walks straight out of the front door. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the Peak District or just looking to escape for a few days.

Our fourth stay in this wonderful cottage . Communication with owner excellent. Upon arrival wine and biscuits. Scrupulously clean and well laid out. All mod cons inside. Use of owners bikes. Lovely garden and seating area. Peaceful but within driving or walking distances to very pretty towns and villages. Discover a different walk each time we visit. Dovedale walk on...

Very well equipped cottage with lovely features and everything you need. We didn't need the garden as the lovely village is right outside the front door with lovely walks and views. Cottage suitable for older families as the garden is small and accessed by steps at the side of the property, but we did have a cups sitting in the...

About the neighbourhood
The Ashbourne / Alstonefield area
Alstonefield has won the best village award many times in the past. It is a stunning village with a close knit community who are always friendly and willing to help. Alstonefield is actually built on a limestone plateau, which is 900 feet above sea level, making for lovely views. There is a popular old coaching inn just in front of the old wool market, and shops that used to thrive on the silk industry, making silk buttons! It is a wonderful village, with craft shops and galleries to potter about in as well as being the link to the wonderful countryside all around.

A quaint English Hamlet today, Milldale, used to be a bustling and busy hamlet with a Camomile mill that closed in the late 1870's.
