About the neighbourhood
We are situated in Cowichan Valley, the garden-spot of Canada with the warmest climate and longest growing season. We are home to the world's largest rhododendron and we even have palm trees! Cowichan Valley is known worldwide for the Chemainus Murals (4.8 km). The region is home to the highest concentration of artists and artisans in the country with many annual studio tours and galleries. We have a vibrant wine industry with over 3 dozen tasting rooms, plus a burgeoning craft beer and distilled spirits industry. Cowichan Valley has a diverse agriculture that supports many fine farm-to-table restaurants. There are many outdoor activities including hiking, biking, diving, zip lines, several excellent golf courses and much more.
Getting around
A car or motor cycle is the best way to navigate the expansive the Cowichan Valley, which comprises 1341 sq mi (3473 km²) of land between the Pacific Ocean and the Salish Sea. There are numerous back roads that require 4-wheel or all-terrain vehicles. For shorter outings, bicycle rentals are available in some locations, e.g. at the Chemainus Visitor Centre.
