Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Superb week at Castlemoor
We have just had a fabulous stay at Castlemoor cottage. The weather was great and views from the cottage outstanding. The cottage itself is immaculate. Warm and cosy with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is a powerful double shower and bath. The beds are very comfortable and I had the best nights sleep in a long time. There was a lovely note from Elizabeth welcoming us with biscuits and wine and fresh flowers in the cottage too. There is a secure garden for the dog with space to eat and sit while enjoying the views. We had breakfast in the garden almost every day. I cannot fault anything. It was a fabulous week. If you get a chance pop into Linda Irvines studio just down the road . I bought some beautiful gifts There The Ship Inn in the village is outstanding. Fresh food and very amiable company. We will certainly return. And thank you Elizabeth for such a warm welcome

Beautiful cottage amidst stunning scenery!
My husband and our two girls, aged 15 and 12 stayed for 6 days recently. Our journey down showed us what we should expect in terms of scenery, but the views from the cottage were nothing short of astounding. We were fortunate with the weather and enjoyed some brilliant trips to Drummore, Mull of Galloway, Sandhead and Portpatrick, as well as Creetown gem and rock museum, and the glorious Glenwhan Gardens. We ate well and heartily recommend The Mariners in Drummore, Tigh-na-mara in Sandhead, and The Crown Hotel in Portpatrick. The cottage is spacious, modern and spotless and had everything we needed. This, along with fabulous communication throughout, means I can't recommend Elizabeth and Castlemoor highly enough!

WOW
One of the best places we've stayed, in our 27 years of visiting Scotland! The cottage is immaculate with amazing views, we spent many hours in the garden room...it's so peaceful and quiet here you can hear the silence. There is an abundance of wildlife around the cottage- deers, hares, buzzards and so much more. Bonnie & Bazil, our dogs, loved the enclosed garden and the many beaches within a short walk or drive away. We'll definitely be back. Moran Taing

Perfect cottage in a wonderful location
Castlemoor is a clean, comfortable cottage with fantastic views of the Mull from the sunny garden room. It’s well appointed and dog friendly. I couldn’t wish for a more lovely place in a beautiful quiet spot and there’s always a very warm welcome from Elizabeth.

Regular Visitors, Just the Best.
Immaculate cottage in impressive location with the best views down the Mull to the lighthouse. Lovely host Elizabeth always warm welcome and helpful. Peaceful, great sun room, all the things you are likely to need and more. Enclosed surrounding garden, patio with table and chairs including gated parking area, great for dogs to be safe in. Magical small glen less than 5 minutes walk along the road ideal for walking with your dog and seeing wildlife, has been lovingly maintained by a local farmer with seats along the path Highly recommend this cottage.

Another wonderful holiday in this beautiful cottage
This was the fifth time we have stayed in Elizabeth’s lovely holiday cottage, once again we chose to stay for three weeks. The surroundings are stunning and views from the cottage are hard to beat. This year Elizabeth has installed a walk in shower in addition to the existing bath. She really does her absolute best to maintain the quality of the facilities provided. We arrived home yesterday and already miss the place, fortunately we are already booked for next year. Thank you for making it so special for us and the girls.

Perfect!
Beautiful views, comfortable, well equipped accommodation, unbelievably peaceful...what more could you want? Definitely one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Elizabeth, the owner, is lovely and came to check we were settled in and all ok. Scenery was amazing every direction you travelled from the cottage. We sat outside most days on the sunny patio and listened to the silence...bliss. In the evenings we spent time in the sunroom which looks out towards the lighthouse (and the cows over the fence who come to visit!) It was a long drive for us but definitely worth it. Can't wait to visit again.

A Gem of a Cottage with Stunning Views
Castlemoor is an excellent cottage, spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for your stay. We met the owner, Elizabeth, who greeted us with a very warm welcome. (You don't often get to meet the owner, so this was a nice personal touch) The cottage is a credit to Elizabeth reflecting her attention to detail and kindly manner. We explored a lot of the surrounding area and went on plenty of walks with our dog, Tara. The Lighthouse can be seen from the cottage sunroom and also the Isle of Man on the horizon. This is a very special part of Scotland! The Mull of Galloway Experience is only 3 miles away and a good attraction to visit along with the RSPB centre. The Gallie Craig Coffee House has a super restaurant serving tasty food, it also has a gift shop and terraced patio where you can sit at the tables outside with your dog. We'll visit again and would definitely recommend Castlemoor Cottage.

Stunning Cottage
We spent 4 weeks at Castlemoor and have to say it’s the best cottage we’ve stayed in. A warm welcome from the owner Elizabeth, including a bottle of bubbly was a great way to start our holiday. It’s the fourth time we’ve stayed at Castlemoor and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. Well equipped, with stunning views over the Mull of Galloway, it’s the perfect location for a stress-free holiday. We’ll be back again in September.
