Holiday Rental House -
5 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 10
Lee, Devon, England
The Mill House is an amazing period holiday home standing right on the water's edge of Lee Bay. The sea borders the property on two sides, so in the summer you can sit out on the terrace overlooking the bay and enjoy a drink, barbecue and the fabulous sunsets. In the autumn/winter it's wonderful to sit inside around one of the log fires with good food, family and friends.

In July 2014 we featured in an ITV cookery mini-series, Coastal Cottage, with celebrity Masterchef Lisa Faulkner; the Mail on Sunday used the house for its 'Win a Dream Holiday Cottage' competition (sadly it wasn't me that won it) and we've been listed in the Guardian for the best Easter breaks. We get lots of other media mentions, but that gives you some of the highlights.

The beach outside the house is a mixture of sand and rocks, so is great...

The Mill House is simply an exceptional and breathtaking location. When the tide is up and sun is setting it is simply magical. Log fires later on were a delight but the further hearth was very smoky. The facilities overall are good but the mezzanine bedroom is not good for adults. The bathroom plumbing and mechanical ventilation is not good...

What a house! What a location! This is the 7th year in a row I have been in Lee with my two sons - now ages 12 and 10yrs but the first time in the Mil House. To hear the sea lapping around the actual house is amazing as is waking to the sound of the always moving tide and...

We have visited Lee Bay on many occasions over the past 10 years or so, on our walks over the spectacular cliffs from our campsite in nearby Mortehoe. The Mill house has always piqued our interest, so it seemed the perfect place to celebrate my 50th birthday. We spent a fun and laughter filled time, creating fine feasts in the...

Management response:

It's so good to hear you all enjoyed yourselves so much. The kayaks are a great way to explore the coast and secret beaches not accessible any other way. And I think the comments about flaking paint are mine! I like to make sure people know this is a characterful place right on the edge of the ocean and so...

Additional amenities & feature info
The Mill House has the benefit of two lounges both with slate flagstone floors and open fires. One has a TV/DVD player, the other a CD player and iPod docking station, together with a good collection books and games. The furnishings are homely and comfortable with squidgy sofas, complete with throws and cushions.

The kitchen with views straight out to sea, has recently been refitted with painted shaker style furniture, granite work surfaces, under floor heating and a central island for drinks or breakfast. An American style fridge freezer with icemaker is just one of the features of this room. We love cooking and so it’s pretty well equipped with kitchen ‘stuff’.

Dining can be enjoyed in the original Mill Room with views looking out to sea and where French doors give access to the terrac...

Goldcoast Oceanfest: a celebration of music and the ocean right by the beach in Croyde, normally on the Solstice weekend in June. In 2011 Ed Sheeran and Seasick Steve topped the bill. Beach volleyball and beach soccer competitions, iron man event, diamond lady event, surf lifesaving competition ... great for partying in the evening and chilling during the day.
