The Norfolk coast, and blue flag beaches, including Sea Palling and Winterton, and the lively resort of Great Yarmouth, are 20 mins. by car with the historic city of Norwich 30 minutes away. There are many characterful pub/restaurants to be explored nearby. The cottage's location is peaceful and idyllic, with uninterrupted views over the river to the water meadows beyond. While away your time sitting on the sun deck watching sailing boats and cruisers go by, or enjoy the sunset over the water meadows. Fish directly from the garden, with its 60 ft key-headed river frontage. Hire a boat, for the day or the week, to explore the rest of the Norfolk Broads, or bring your own, and moor it in the mooring dock. Have fun feeding the ducks and swans from the garden or go birdwatching across the marshes. The Hickling nature reserve, famous for swallowtail butterflies, is nearby. Take the Weavers' Way footpath from right behind the house or enjoy a network of other walks and cycle rides. There are a number of historic houses and gardens within easy reach. All rooms in the house face south over the river. The spacious sitting room has large double doors which open right onto the river frontage and the sun deck. This is furnished with a table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco. There is a log effect fire for cooler evenings. There is a large porch for storing outerwear and an outside WC, especially useful when fishing. A secure fisherman's hut with bait fridge (which doubles as a cycle store) completes the picture. The cottage is 400 metres along the towpath, accessable on foot or cycle (also mobility scooter). A free private parking space is provided. More

About the neighbourhood
Potter Heigham is one of the major boating centres on the Norfolk Broads, with many boating holidays or day trips starting from here. The medieval bridge gives access to the Upper Thurne, Hickling Broad and Horsey Mere, but only for smaller craft; larger boats, if they can get through at all, have to wait for low tide and seek the help of a bridge pilot! This makes the upper reaches beyond the bridge, where the Little House is situated, quieter than some parts There are two cafes where you can sit outside in the summer, a fish and chip shop, a takeaway and a gift shop/newsagent. To many, shopping in Potter Heigham means one thing - Lathams, a famous Norfolk discount store! They stock items from clothes, toys, household and pet items and even a have garden centre. There is also a very ...
