Carpenter's Cottage, in the centre of the historic market town of Pocklington, is a short stroll from shops, restaurants, pubs, theatre, cinema, sports centre and Burnby Hall gardens. It is the perfect base for visiting the nearby city of York or for walking or cycling in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. Underfloor heating and a wood burning stove make the cottage cosy and comfortable all year round. There is utility room with washing machine/tumble dryer - handy for walking and cycling holidays in all weathers. The cottage is well-equipped for self catering. We supply towels, linen and toiletries as well as pepper, salt, tea, coffee, sugar, and a pint of milk to get you started. You are a short walk from a number of good bakeries, delicatessens, butchers, greengrocers and supermarkets. If you prefer to eat out, then Pocklington has cafés and restaurants to suit all tastes.More

About the neighbourhood
The medieval walled city of YORK is a 13 mile drive West of Pocklington. With its famous Minster, castle, museums and the beautifully preserved half timbered buildings of the Shambles, York is a fabulous day out - and, as our guests have found, the cottage is a lovely place to return to after a day of sightseeing.Travelling East and North from Pocklington, you will encounter typical East Riding market towns and villages, including the historic County town of Beverley with its own Minster and two market squares. Heading towards the east coast, you may like to visit the village of Burton Agnes with its beautiful Hall and gardens. On the coast itself there are the famous fishing and resort towns of Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough and Whitby.
