Welcome to Sandpiper cottage. Sandpiper is ideally located in the heart of the village and just a few steps to the beach - literally less than a minute's walk - with sea views from the rear bedrooms. You would find it hard to get a better location in Newbiggin. It should tick all the boxes including free unlimited high speed WiFi. Previously a fisherman's cottage, Sandpiper now offers the home from home comforts you would expect to make your stay as relaxing as possible. Fresh linen and towels are provided as standard and a fully equipped, open plan kitchen / diner includes all of the standard appliances you might find in your own home (including gas hob, electric oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer as well as a toaster and kettle). The living room is a very comfortable place to wind down and if you're having a night in by the telly the 43 inch Ultra Smart HDTV hosts Freesat channels and all the major TV apps including Netflix, Amazon Prime (your own accounts required) BBC iPlayer, the ITV Hub and All4 Upstairs, our bedrooms are fresh and comfortable to give you a refreshing night's sleep on cotton linen. There are plenty of pillows too! The large double bedroom has a king size bed and lots of hanging space in fitted wardrobes. At the back of the cottage are two single rooms each with an adult sized single bed and sea views - go to bed with the window open and you'll hear the sea! The large family bathroom has a large bath and a powerful over bath shower. The location is perfect. If one morning you choose not to step out of the patio doors in to the sun kissed yard to enjoy an alfresco breakfast you can walk out to the village where you can let someone else serve you at one of several excellent cafés. All are within short walking distance. The Breakwater Café overlooks the sea at the Newbiggin Marine Centre which is just a few minutes walk from the cottage along the promenade. Another favourite is Caffé Bertorelli, the local Italian café where you can get great coffees and homemade ice cream in an authentic art deco setting. The Bertorellis have had coffee shops for many generations. There are plenty of independent shops and restaurants close by. You won't need your car - you can walk everywhere. There are a couple of pubs very close by - The Queens Head is so close you could almost put your head through the door without leaving the cottage. It's right across the road. A quaint and quiet little pub, ideal for last orders! Turn right out of the cottage and a further little stroll down the road is the Cresswell Arms 'The Last Pub Before Norway'. You'll pass a very good Indian restaurant on the way. Left out of the cottage takes you into the village centre where you'll find great fish and chips amongst other takeaway favourites and a very well stocked Co-Op mini market. There are a couple of great local bakers for your early morning loaf. All of this is within less than a 5 mins walk from the cottage. More

What is there to say in such a short space? Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is a charming fishing village with a rich heritage. It has all the local amenities to sustain you throughout your stay. Further afield you are ideally placed for daily runs into Newcastle-upon-Tyne, exploring the world beating Northumbrian coast north of Newbiggin and some of the wildest, rugged open countryside in the north and west of the county.
Getting around
Local buses stop just down the road from the cottage and go to Newcastle, Ashington and Morpeth where you can connect with other services. There is also a bus to Amble.
