The Tobacco Barn sleeps up to 5 in three bedrooms, each with it's own en-suite shower room. It has been furnished tastefully with a mixture of antiques. A separate fully equipped kitchen and a beautifully furnished lounge features a Perigordian stone fireplace with wood burning stove, beamed ceiling and lots of natural stone features.

Satellite English and French freeview TV and DVD player are provided. The lounge patio doors lead directly on to the pool terrace and 10 x 4.5 m pool where there is also a wooden gazebo for those balmy relaxing evenings, BBQ's and out door dining.

The gazebo, which is reserved for use of the Tobacco Barn, has a table, chairs and BBQ, for eating outdoors and has the benefit of stunning views over the Vezere valley and the unique natural rock feature of La Roque st Christophe.

Interaction with guests
We live on site and will be staying in one of our houses. We will be here to offer help and advice, sort out any problems, change light bulbs, change the gas tank etc. We are happy to advise you where to eat or places to visit. We are, equally, happy to leave you to enjoy your holiday without our advice. You will know that we are there because we do the gardening, clean the pools and some of the laundry.

From Booking to arrival the owners were incredibly helpful. As Paul and Phillipa live on site this was very useful in terms of local knowledge particularly regarding local eateries etc. A very helpful and informative book of what to do and where to go is kept in the Tobacco Bern and is a great resource. Three friends and I had the great pleasure of staying in the tobacco barn for a week this spring. The three bedrooms and three bathrooms allowed us all to have privacy and our own beds. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room very comfortable. We even had a washing machine at our disposal, The pool was especially lovely,...

Although our changeover day is Saturday there are times when we can be more flexible please check with us.

A non refundable 30 % deposit is required at the time of booking.

A refundable security deposit of €300 is payable on arrival.

There is a final cleaning charge of €50 payable at the end of your stay.

There will be a nominal charge for supply of logs during the winter months.

We can offer attractive rental rates over the winter period for long rentals please ask for details.

About the neighbourhood
The small village of Le Moustier derives its name from the prehistoric Mousterian era due to an important skull find there. It has a restaurant and boulangerie which is only 5 mins walk from the house and is situated between Montignac and Les Eyzies, site of the oldest prehistoric human remains.

The house is situated opposite Le Roque St Christophe, a site inhabited from prehistoric time until as late as the 16th century. This kilometer long cave carved into the rock thousands of years ago is lit up at night and makes a spectacular view from the house. Getting around
There is no public transport in or around our village but the nearest train station is Les Eyzies, the nearest bus is Montignac. The nearest main train stations are Brive or Perigueux or Sarlat.
We highly recommend a car in order to experience the best that the area has to offer.

The nearest airport is Bergerac with various budget airlines from London Stansted, Southampton, Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham and Exeter. The airport is 1 hours drive from Le Moustier. Car hire is available at this small but friendly airport.

Other airports at Brive (Valley of the Dordogne) approximately 1 hours drive. Limoges, Bordeaux and Toulouse are approx 2 hrs drive. Car hire available is also at these airports.
