Ideal for families or couples in need of a break from the professional city life, Yew Tree Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests. Meticulously renovated and mindfully decorated, this one-of-a-kind country retreat embodies luxury living both inside and out. Natural materials, warm hues, subdued patterns, tasteful artwork and carefully selected fabrics create a classic, cosy British vibe with a nod to the surrounding environment and years gone by. Get comfortable in one of Yew Tree Cottage’s three downstairs living spaces. Make a favourite family meal in the kitchen, where you’ll find a full welcome basket with fresh bread, butter, milk, eggs, bacon, tea, coffee, cake and a complimentary bottle of wine – all sourced from local farmers and bakers. To make cooking even easier, expect to find a well-stocked pantry and refrigerator. Toss a few pieces of pre-cut firewood into the wood-burning stove, and hunker down in the family room with one of the many DVDs or a PS2 game. And in the dining room, gather around the solid oak rectory table, which is also ideal for playing board games or putting together jigsaw puzzles late into the evening. If you’ve got little ones in tow, there’s no need to worry: Toddler toys, a high chair, plastic cutlery, a travel cot, and other kid-friendly gear are all freely available for your use. We even supply extra nappies, a steriliser and bottle warmer! We know what it's like to pack for children and have tried to ensure the home is equipped with everything you might need. At night, claim a stylish bedroom to call your own. The master bedroom features a super king-sized bed, the cottage’s original fireplace and other high-end touches, and the guest bedroom boasts a double bed and beautiful views across the fields. A large third double bedroom has 2 ziplink singles which can be joined to make one large double and there's also the cottage library – perfect for anyone who needs a bit of space to call their own. (Don’t worry: A great selection of books and magazines means you’ll never be bored!) A downstairs toilet as well as a well-appointed bathroom on the second floor offer ample room to spread out and freshen up. Prepare to be spoiled with a traditional roll-top bath/shower, underfloor heating and complimentary Aesop bathroom products with hints of ginger root and geranium fragrances. Throw open the patio door to find Yew Tree Cottage’s lavish details spilled out into your own private garden. On sunny days, take advantage of the barbeque grill and dine outside in style at the outdoor dining table. Come night, soak in the starry skies, which escape unscathed from city light. Of course, Yew Tree Cottage’s prominent location in the heart of a typical Yorkshire village is simply a bonus to this already spectacular property. Positioned close to a pub and within easy reach of the coast, moors and dales, it’s the perfect place for a day of exploring. And don't miss the chance to explore the local market town of Malton - Yorkshire’s Food Capital - just a few minutes away. Beyond the attention to physical details, your holiday at Yew Tree Cottage is seamless from the moment you make contact about a stay. Don’t be surprised by how simple it is to truly kick back and relax. After all, this is your hard-earned holiday.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Just perfect!
This house is a perfect getaway location. The house has been stunningly renovated and all of the touches within the cottage go that extra mile. The bathroom is beautiful and the bath is relaxing! The bed was perfect, plenty of blankets as we came when the snow did, the log burner was used well. We absolutely loved our week at the cottage and will without doubt be back next year for another stay.

Well equipped and good quiet location
Lovely cottage in a very peaceful village. Good outdoor area. Really useful & tasty Welcome pack. Local pub serves great food so added bonus. Very handy for Howsham Hall & short drive to Malton. Only downsides were the cottage is fairly dark, even with the lights on, which is a problem when trying to do hair/make-up. Each room needs a small dressing table, mirror, stool/chair & one bright/dimmable light. Also could do with larger shower curtain as shower water over shoots current one. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Yew Yree Cottage
We spent the weekend at Yew Tree Cottage. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 children. Everything was provided for our stay including a lovely welcome hamper. We were also provided with lots of information regarding the local area and details of food deliveries that could be arranged for us if desired. The cottage is warm and inviting and the fire in the lounge was delightful. Correspondence with Natasha and Paul was easy and all our queries were answered promptly. We would definitely recommend Yew Tree Cottage and would love to return in the future.

A lovely rural retreat in Yew Tree cottage
A delightful rural cottage in the small village of Westow ideally located between York and Malton. The North York Moors, Vale of York and Howardian Hills all close by. Coastal resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby just under an hour away. Yew Tree cottage is beautifully decorated, has nice quality bedding and towels, it has everything you need for your stay. The small well kept garden at the rear, has BBQ and dining area. The local pub, the Blacksmiths Arms does great food, booking ahead recommended. The hosts email useful information about the area and were very responsive.

Gorgeous cottage in picturesque village
The most beautiful cosy cottage in a pretty little village. Lovely little garden too. And a wonderful pub just a stones through away, with a great menu. Just don't rely on the advertised welcome hamper, ours never arrived, so take your own breakfast etc

Home from Home
What can I say, the most amazing stay we have ever been on! The house was like a dream come true. Everything had been thought about for all age groups young children to the elderly Natasha & Paul literally prepared the lot. The welcoming hamper was a very personal and wonderful touch bacon/milk & butter in the fridge. We had x4 teenage children and everyone of them loved their bedrooms and the feel of the house. Would highly recommend this property & hosts. We had reassuring emails and texts checking all was ok and if help was needed the hosts were avaliable. House was so clean, beds very comfortable we wish we had stayed for far longer. Tiny village position with a pub literally 4 doors down. Perfect get away from hustle & bustle of busy life. Thank you so much we will be returning

Perfect family cottage in quiet Yorkshire village
Great location and fabulous family cottage with everything you need. Owners were great in contacting us and making sure everything was perfect for our stay including provision of a lovely welcome food hamper and detailed notes on local attractions and places to eat. This really is a home from home and we couldn't be happier with our choice of venue for a lovely family weekend.

Fabulous, cosy property just north of York and in the foothills of the North Yorkshire Moors.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for two nights. Every thought has gone into making this a home from home, and everything inside and out is of the highest possible standards. The property has plenty of space inside to just relax in the evenings and use as a base to explore North Yorkshire, including nearby Castle Howard, during the day. It is well equipped from a technology perspective, and the message book is full of compliments from people who have stayed there over the years. I really cannot fault this fabulous cottage!

Great stay with a family group
Can only agree with everyone else’s comments. Great place, beautifully furnished, everything you could want, beautiful village, great pub. Super helpful hosts . Only thing I could find fault with was the potato peeler, which wasn’t quite perfect so think that says it all ! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing property.
