Ideal for families or couples in need of a break from the professional city life, Yew Tree Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests. Meticulously renovated and mindfully decorated, this one-of-a-kind country retreat embodies luxury living both inside and out. Natural materials, warm hues, subdued patterns, tasteful artwork and carefully selected fabrics create a classic, cosy British vibe with a nod to the surrounding environment and years gone by. Get comfortable in one of Yew Tree Cottage’s three downstairs living spaces. Make a favourite family meal in the kitchen, where you’ll find a full welcome basket with fresh bread, butter, milk, eggs, bacon, tea, coffee, cake and a complimentary bottle of wine – all sourced from local farmers and bakers. To make cooking even easier, expect to find a well-stocked pantry and refrigerator. Toss a few pieces of pre-cut firewood into the wood-burning stove, and hunker down in the family room with one of the many DVDs or a PS2 game. And in the dining room, gather around the solid oak rectory table, which is also ideal for playing board games or putting together jigsaw puzzles late into the evening. If you’ve got little ones in tow, there’s no need to worry: Toddler toys, a high chair, plastic cutlery, a travel cot, and other kid-friendly gear are all freely available for your use. We even supply extra nappies, a steriliser and bottle warmer! We know what it's like to pack for children and have tried to ensure the home is equipped with everything you might need. At night, claim a stylish bedroom to call your own. The master bedroom features a super king-sized bed, the cottage’s original fireplace and other high-end touches, and the guest bedroom boasts a double bed and beautiful views across the fields. A large third double bedroom has 2 ziplink singles which can be joined to make one large double and there's also the cottage library – perfect for anyone who needs a bit of space to call their own. (Don’t worry: A great selection of books and magazines means you’ll never be bored!) A downstairs toilet as well as a well-appointed bathroom on the second floor offer ample room to spread out and freshen up. Prepare to be spoiled with a traditional roll-top bath/shower, underfloor heating and complimentary Aesop bathroom products with hints of ginger root and geranium fragrances. Throw open the patio door to find Yew Tree Cottage’s lavish details spilled out into your own private garden. On sunny days, take advantage of the barbeque grill and dine outside in style at the outdoor dining table. Come night, soak in the starry skies, which escape unscathed from city light. Of course, Yew Tree Cottage’s prominent location in the heart of a typical Yorkshire village is simply a bonus to this already spectacular property. Positioned close to a pub and within easy reach of the coast, moors and dales, it’s the perfect place for a day of exploring. And don't miss the chance to explore the local market town of Malton - Yorkshire’s Food Capital - just a few minutes away. Beyond the attention to physical details, your holiday at Yew Tree Cottage is seamless from the moment you make contact about a stay. Don’t be surprised by how simple it is to truly kick back and relax. After all, this is your hard-earned holiday.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

The cottage is amazing everything you need home from home
We stopped at this amazing cottage for 2 nights for a family weekend and had a fantastic time. We visited the adventure farm and the next day flamingo land which was only a 20 min drive. We had a meal in the pub that is just next door and the food was lovely. The owners Natasha and Paul keep you updated from the time you book to the time you leave. The hamper that was there on arrival was a really special touch and makes you feel so welcoming. We all can’t wait to go back next year it’s a fantastic place to stay..

Amazing!
This place was spot on and very high end, well worth the money. We stayed here as part of my 40th celebrations and could not have stayed in a nicer place. Ideally located to Malton and has an amazing pub a few doors down. We have two young children and everything was provided from highchairs to toys. Would 100% recommend and will 100% be back. Thanks again.

A wonderful base for another very enjoyable holiday
We've just returned from our 3rd visit to Yew Tree Cottage, which we enjoyed as much as ever. Everything has been thought of in this property to make it as comfortable as possible - it is tastefully decorated and furnished, and really well equipped for a holiday cottage. It had everything that we needed and wanted, and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch. It was also a great base for exploring the area, with York, Whitby and the Moors all within easy reach. An extra bonus was the Blacksmiths Arms, a one minute stroll from the cottage. So good we ate there four times!

Perfect family holiday
We stayed as a family for 5 days at the Yew Tree Cottage (My husband and I, 2 year old daughter and parents). The cottage is decorated lovely and has everything you could need, particularly in the kitchen, there was nothing we couldn't find. It is very spacious and well thoughtout for family holidays. They were incredibly accommodating with all of our needs - plenty of emails in advance on how to get there, things to do etc. They supplied everything we needed for a 2 year old including lots of toys which made travelling a little lighter! Any recommendations or questions I had were very promptly answered. I couldn't fault our stay here and will definitely return next time we holiday in Yorkshire!

Beautiful authentic cottage in peaceful village location
Stayed first weekend in feb when we had a bit of snow which added to the experience, the cottage is beautifully presented and was a home from home with lots of room for our party of 7, ( 4 adults 2 kids and a toddler). Loads of extras from a very tasty food hamper to Kids toys and games. Really enjoyed our stay and will be back. Approx 20 mins to park and ride at monks cross to take you into York and 10 mins from castle Howard

Fabulous stay
The Yew tree cottage is a perfect family destination, wonderfully cosy and immaculately clean. The correspondence with the owner was concise and informative. We would definitely stay here again.

Castle Howard is just down the road, the river Derwent is a beautiful spot for fishing, or walking, and the moors and coast are a fantastic day trip.
