You will find no shortage of fresh local ingredients to fire your culinary imagination, whether it is the salt marsh Romney lamb, fresh fish straight from the boats or locally grown vegetables, award wining wine from a local vineyard, local Kentish cider, apple juice or ale. The kids (both large and small) will find plenty to keep them amused in the playroom be it table football, toys, a movie or just chilling on the sofa with a good book. A holiday is not a holiday without a good night's sleep. Whether you're visiting for the weekend, a short break or an extended stay you will love our luxurious beds; there are two super-kings and a king-size, all of which can be split into singles. Whatever your choice you can look forward to crisp hotel quality bed linen, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. We have also thought carefully about our younger guests, we have bed guards and cots (but more of this later). The high standard has not gone un-noticed by Visit Britain, who have awarded The Salty Dog Four Stars and a Gold Award for “exceptional levels of quality, comfort and cleanliness in bedrooms and bathrooms, and outstanding levels of customer care”. In summer, the south-facing and fully enclosed garden comes into it's own. A great place to enjoy barbecuing that fresh fish you bought earlier in the day, or to enjoy a glass of local English wine bought from one of the nearby vineyards. The prefect end to the perfect day! The sand on the nearby beach is perfect for sandcastles and lagoons left by the receding tide, and often warmed by the sun, are the perfect place for children to splash around. The ideal place to spend your family seaside holiday or short break. Pack up a picnic - you will find a picnic rug, beach chairs, cool box with freezer blocks, thermos, wind-break and beach toys - and head off to the beach for some good old fashioned seaside fun. As parents ourselves we have been on many self catering holidays and so have a good idea of what makes a holiday with a young family fun, relaxing and stress-free. Genuinely family friendly, The Salty Dog is equipped with travel cots, high chairs, dining booster seats, bed guards, stair gates, steam steriliser, socket covers, baby listening monitor, children's cutlery, plates bowls and beakers, toddler step, potty.... as well plenty of indoor, garden and beach toys. We welcome every member of your family at The Salty Dog and that includes your dogs. Our own springer spaniel, Chloe, has worked hard to ensure that the needs of your canine companions are anything but forgotten. So we know exactly what makes a self-catering holiday with your four-legged friend relaxing and fun. So while you are enjoying your tea, scones and homemade jam your dog can tuck into some complimentary chews and biscuits. We provide dog bowls and a few toys but ask that you bring your dog's own bed and towels. The beach is a short walk away, less than five minutes when being towed by an eager hound, and even in the height summer there are miles of sand to be explored and seagulls to be chased. On the way back you can call in at the local pub, who welcome dogs and offer a selection of real ales and tasty home cooked food. They will even provide a bowl of water for your dog. The spacious, open-plan accommodation consists of 3 bedrooms, each with zip-link beds, with en-suite shower room to the main bedroom; family bathroom; lounge; kitchen dining room; children's playroom and WC. The fully enclosed garden is ideal for kids and dogs to play in and any sports equipment can be stored securely in the garage. To the side of the house is an outdoor tap with hose for showering sand off dogs (and kids) after playing on the beach. The medieval town of Rye with it's cobbled streets and quaint shops is only 3 miles away. This pretty little hilltop town, once the haunt of smugglers, is steeped in history now home to art galleries, interesting shops, inns and restaurant Easily accessible from mainland Europe via the channel tunnel East Sussex is the ideal destination for a holiday or short break with a true taste of England at its best. Historic Castles, English gardens both traditional and modern, the rolling South Downs, chalk cliffs and sandy beaches, we have it all here in the south east. Whether is is a bucket and spade family beach holiday,a golfing break, an activity holiday or just a relaxing break you are after, you will find it here.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Lovely stay
This is a great house to holiday in with everything you could need as a family. Easy walk to the beach which is great as car parking can be tricky on certain days. We had a beach trolley for all our beach chairs etc and it was very handy to be able to store this in the garage at the end of each day. Enjoyed eating together at the table and cooking on the bbq. Thanks to Carol for all the clear communication- and for the scones. We can recommend Hoof in Rye and the White Lion Hotel in Tenterden for evening meals. Had a nice cream tea at the Orangery in Ashburnham Place and an interesting visit to Battle Abbey. Many thanks

Cleanest Holiday Home
We stayed for a week with our dogs and found the Salty Dog to be a perfect base for our break. As others have said, the property is very well equipped, comfortable and the cleanest holiday home we have booked to date. The scones and home-made jam on arrival were delicious and the dogs appreciated their treats too. Despite the weather which decided to throw all the elements at us on a daily basis, the house was very warm and we looked forward to relaxing indoors after some bracing walks on the beach.Thank you to Carol and the team for being so flexible and welcoming to us and the dogs, we had a lovely time and would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

Perfect Holiday Home!
Fantastic stay at the salty dog. Me and my family visited the house over a weekend. We arrived and felt instantly comfortable and relaxed. The place is very clean and well kept. The furnishings and the decor are done perfectly to make it feel homely. The kitchen and dining area are wonderful, an excellent space for hosting a dinner parting. Sunday afternoon we made the short walk to the beach and had a lovely stroll along the shore. Really felt like a home from home. Had such a lovely time and we will be visiting again.

A great holiday home - very child friendly
We spent a very happy week at The Salty Dog; it was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The welcome tray with scones and homemade jam was a lovely touch – and very tasty! The playroom was a big hit with our grandson; there were so many toys and puzzles to play with and books too. We spent many days on the beautiful sandy beach which is within easy walking distance and found some great places to eat nearby too. Many thanks for a great holiday!

Again and again ...
Again we hv been stayed at The Salty Dog. It was very comfortably, cosy and feeling like being at home. We were staying for the seventh time and would stay there again and again. It is a fantastic holiday cottage and you wil not miss anything you will need for a lovely holiday. If it will be possible, we will come back. Meanwhile our children are grown up, but nevertheless it is the best cotttage, we can imaging. Thank you very much for all!

Well equipped house for family fun
Our perennial visit to Camber. Wonderful time had by all. Children loved the playroom contents and the toys in the garage. Great location for the beach, dog walks, flying the kite, building sandcastles, picnic on the beach. Good base for visits to Dungeness lighthouse, steam train trip to Bodiam castle, Rye Castle, Rare Breeds Farm. Great food at The Pilot (fish and chips), local Farm Shop, Rye Bay fish shop. Well equipped house for suppers in after long day visiting the local attractions with little ones sleeping peacefully in bed. Must be the sea air! Jamie excellent meeter/greeter. All comms/booking process very smooth and efficient. See you again soon!

Fantastic family accommodation is a superb location
Fantastic accommodation for a family holiday, the house is spacious, spotlessly clean and impressively equipped - there is everything you could wish for. The house is ideally located for a 5 minute walk to the wonderful sand dunes and beach or for a longer walk into the lovely town of Rye. There is plenty to do in the area and among others we had some great days out in Hastings, Battle and to Dover to visit the castle and walk along the White Cliffs. The booking and checking in process was very easy and Carol and her team were very helpful. The lovely welcome letter from Daisy Dog was much appreciated by our daughter. Highly recommended and we would love to return again in the future.

Perfect family seaside getaway
Just got back from a splendid weekend away at The Salty Dog. Fabulous property and location for a family weekend away. With 3 big bedrooms there is plenty of room for everyone. And it’s immaculate. So clean (and I’m fussy) and very well equipped to a high standard. Superb location too at just 5 minutes from the beach and a short drive, or long walk, into the beautiful Ancient Town of Rye. Really want to book a stay at The Rock Lobster now!

FANTASTIC TIME AT THE SALTY DOG
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at The Salty Dog to celebrate my husband’s birthday. This was our second visit to this beautiful welcoming house which upon our arrival was spotlessly clean. The lovely cake, jam, dog biscuits etc was very much appreciated. The house is located on a quiet development close to the sand dunes. We loved our long walks each day along the spacious beach at Camber with our dog and we were lucky with the weather too. We can’t wait to return. Thank you.

well positioned for places to go and brilliantly kitted out for all ages
Well kitted out house with plenty of space, comfy beds and lounge. Great kitchen with plenty of good quality pots, pans etc. Having beach toys, chairs and a picnic rug provided meant we could all travel in one car as only personal luggage was needed. We visited: Dungeness, went up the Old Lighthouse and had fish and chips at the Pilot ( huge, and tasty); Rye, walked about and visited Ypres Tower; Hastings where we played Crazy Golf, went to the Castle (good video half hourly) and the Smugglers Experience; Battle Abbey where we most enjoyed the walk around the battle site and finally the local beach (Camber Sands) which we walked to every day on return from our outing (10 mins including sand dunes) and one day spent the whole day there: kites and sandcastle building . Every bit of our week was great and our grandchildren ( 10 and 12 ) declared it one of their favourite holidays. This holiday home felt very homely and was everything its description claimed.
