The Weardale Heritage Railway runs though (stops) Frosterley during the summer months and is ideally situated for the winter Polar Express event. Culture enthusiasts are sure to get a kick out of the lead mining museum in Killhope, which explores Weardales rich mining history. Then there is the county town of Durham, this ancient city boasts a magnificent castle and a word class cathedral. Thanks to its enchanting gothic architecture, the cathedral was used as the setting of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Other points of interest in the vicinity include Hamsterley Forest, Barnard Castle, Bishop Auckland, Beamish, Derwent Reservoir and Alston which is the highest Market town in England, Frosterley is centrally situated between the villages of Wolsingham and Stanhope (3 miles) and an ideal location for anyone wanting to attend their local county fairs held every September. If you are willing to go further afield take a day trip to the Lake District, Newcastle, Northumberland and Hadrian’s Wall. On the ground floor there is a comfortable living room with gas coal effect fire, Wi-Fi, 40” TV with leather sofas and wooden floor. A spacious dining area with wooden floor and sofa bed and well finished kitchen with modern appliances. Modern Bathroom with electric shower over bath (no toilet), Separate toilet. On the first floor there is 1 double and 1 single bedroom both very comfortable and well equipped. Full gas central heating throughout the cottage. Stayed at Cranford for a week. We had a really great time, cottage is in a great location, shop and chip shop across the road, 2 pubs in village, Frosterley Inn very friendly. Great walks in area with beautiful scenery. Visited Stanhope, Wolsingham, Barnard Castle...More

We had a really peaceful week in this lovely cottage in the very friendly and pleasant village of Frosterley. Absolutely everything we needed was in the cottage and there was a surprise welcome tray with wine, milk, biscuits and dog treats- along with feeding bowls...More

A lovely cottage with very welcoming hosts. Biscuits, wine and dog treats on arrival was a welcome surprise and the location of the cottage was excellent for exploring Durham, the Pennines and surrounding areas. We would highly recommend this cottage.
