We were impressed with how beautifully appointed this cottage was, with solid oak furniture, comfortable beds, fluffy duvets, a sauna and corner bath, and just about every home comfort you could wish for. All rooms were of generous proportions, including the kitchen. But the standout feature of the house was the stunning view from the big glass windows at the...

We have stayed in Buckden many times but this was the first time at Dalegarth. The property is extremely well designed, very well appointed, exceptionally clean and with stunning views of Upper Wharfedale from the upstairs living space. I have nearly run out of adjectives!! Walking on the Dales Way can begin a few hundred yards from the front door,...

We enjoyed are stay so much that we had no hesitation in recommending it to relatives who have subsequently booked and we hope to return in the very near future. Buckden is a very pleasant village in the middle of the real & stunning Yorkshire Dales. To the rear was a panoramic view of Wharfedale from the french doors and...

We do appreciate both the time taken and the generous comments made by you in this Review. To make a 'repeat' visit is always a compliment, but to know that we shall be welcoming your family in four weeks makes it particularly special! We hope that this confidence can be shared by others. By the way, the woodpeckers are as...

About the neighbourhood
Buckden, Upper Wharfedale, is right at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, yet really easy to access. Travel 9 miles north from Skipton to Threshfield - where one could make a special right turn for Grassington, the 'capital of the upper dale - and continue straight on for a further 9 miles, passing Kilnsey Crag and Kettlewell before arriving at Buckden. Uniquely, still travelling 'up dale', one has a choice of routes since the road divides and gives two routes into Wensleydale. Veer left and you pass through the hamlet of Hubberholme en route to Hawes, passing over Yorkshire's highest road. Bear right and an equally dramatic route passes along Bishopdale to Aysgarth in Wensleydale, famous for its Upper, Middle and Lower Falls.

Local Shows, such as that... more
