Cottage
'The Ghyll' is a collection of three cottages - named after local birds:Heron, Dipper and Swallow - sharing a sunny secluded garden, nestling below Buckden Pike. Currently, only 'Heron Ghyll' is available for self catering holiday lettings. 'VisitEngland' has given the cottage '4 Stars, Gold Award' as a result of their latest annual Inspection. As the Inspector said - 'it is a 5 Star 4 star cottage'! With private parking adjacent to the open logia and level entrance to the cottage, it is ideal for any family that has a member with a mobility difficulty. Passing through a small interior porch (ideal for outdoor coats and boots), you enter a south-facing lounge / dining room off which are doors leading to a kitchen and a ground floor double bedroom. Access from the bedroom leads to a full en suite bathroom, with spa bath, level deck shower, toilet and hand basin. Stairs lead from the dining area up to two further bedrooms (one double and one twin) and a bathroom. The basic tariff is based upon the use of two bedrooms; where the third bedroom is required an additional charge of £50 per week is added to the basic tariff. Our aim is to provide Guests with comfort and quality – a 'home from home' ambience, where they can immediately relax and soak up the idyllic views, peace and tranquility. However, one need never feel isolated as each cottage has a private telephone as well as free wi-fi connections. In the heart of the National Park, nature rewards us in so many ways; with no village light pollution there are frequent opportunities for stunning sunsets and starlit night skies. The wooded hills provide cover for wild deer; buzzards, red kites and even golden eagles sweep the skies, whilst the River Wharfe is noted for its wild trout. Swallows regularly nest under the cottage covered loggia, year after year. ELECTRICITY - charged per unit consumed, payable at time of departure. More

About the neighbourhood
Buckden, Upper Wharfedale, is right at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, yet really easy to access. Travel 9 miles north from Skipton to Threshfield - where one could make a special right turn for Grassington, the 'capital' of the upper dale - and continue straight on for a further 9 miles, passing Kilnsey Crag and Kettlewell before arriving at Buckden. Uniquely, still travelling 'up dale', one has a choice of routes since the road divides and gives two routes into Wensleydale. Veer left and you pass through the hamlet of Hubberholme en route to Hawes, passing over Yorkshire's highest road. Bear right and an equally dramatic route passes along Bishopdale to Aysgarth in Wensleydale, famous for its Upper, Middle and Lower Falls. Local Shows, such as that at Kilnsey, attract thousands of...
