The house is just 10/15 minutes’ walk from a range of superb beaches: you can opt for picturesque “O Santo” which includes an inland you can walk to in low tide!, a small cove called “La Cobiña” frequented by locals only, or the large “Lapamán”, one of the most popular beaches in the area. If you prefer to drive, the choice of beaches is endless, and you should certainly pay a visit to unspoiled Cíes and Ons islands before you leave. This area has long been Spaniards’ best kept secret: if you want to sample what real Spain is all about, taste the magnificent local food and experience beautiful landscapes, look no further, this is the place to visit!

Casa de Freire is the most wonderful place to stay. The house has been beautifully renovated and is very well-appointed and comfortable, with a lovely garden complete with orange and lemon trees. Casa de Freire is decorated in a modern country style: the communal areas have exposed stone work which provides a cosy atmosphere. All the main rooms in the house have a magnificent view of the Bay of Pontevedra with Ons islands in the horizon (the twin room is the only one which offers views of the garden but not the sea). The sunsets are really breath-taking! The main bedroom is adjacent to a large dressing room, where one of the single sofa beds is located (ideal for a child). There is also another larger single sofa bed in the master bedroom. We also have a portable cot available.

About the neighbourhood
Ardán is a very quiet village but it does offer an excellent restaurant and most importantly three excellent beaches within walking distance! You also have access to great walks through the local woods. Bueu, which offers a large selection of restaurants and bars is only 10 minutes’ drive away. If you would like to do a bit of sightseeing: Pontevedra (20 minutes away) is a lovely historical town , full of character. You should also visit Combarro (near Pontevedra, capital) which offers the largest concentration of hórreos (local granaries) near the coast.

In terms of leisure pursuits in the inmediate area, you can enjoy for example:

• Walking: Cape Udra, Cape Home, Beluso coastal path, etc
