Ideal for family holidays and pets as well as small groups. This superb location is also great for walkers with the Torrent & Precipice Walks nearby. The ancient market town of Dolgellau, with over 200 listed buildings, has bags of charm and is just 3 miles down the road with all the necessary amenities.Visitors to the cottage may enjoy the neighbouring 15 acre gardens of Caerynwch House, one of North Wales' most enigmatic stately homes. Established in the 1800's and featuring a collection of special rhododendrons brought back from China in the 1900's by renowned botanist, Mary Richards, and grandmother of the present owner. Also on the grounds is the rushing Clywedog river, the site of the historic Torrent Walk, where private fishing can also be enjoyed. It is quite shabby and some items need replacing, notably the broken toilet seat which had been mentioned by previous occupants in the visitor's book. The bathroom shelf, where I wanted to put my toiletries, was grubby....

We stayed here for a few days in early May and cannot fault the location! The owners extended a warm welcome then left us to explore the grounds and the many local attractions. This cottage and Plas Hen are away from the main house so ideal if you are noisy! The cottage soon warmed up when we switched on the...

Dolgellau isn't far off for groceries etc, though we didn't cycle from the house...
