Grizedale Forest is a vast area of ancient woodland through which wonderful walking and cycling routes can be followed,passing sculptural pieces and woodland creatures along the way. Head to nearby Coniston Water to hire a rowing,sailing or motor boat,or stick to dry land and climb the Old Man of Coniston,which towers above the lake offering splendid views from the top. One mile from the property,the village of Satterthwaite is home to a popular pub which serves hearty meals and hosts the occasional festival and live music event.
