2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6
St. Ouen, Jersey, Channel Islands
The iconic Barge Aground is uniquely positioned in the stunning St Ouen's Bay with direct access to the beach. Built in the 1930s, this is the last of the seaside follies and chalets which once lined the bay.

Barge Aground sits in the rugged landscape of the dunes in Jersey's only national park, close to the nature reserve. In early summer a walk will take you through fields of native orchids and throughout the year the area teems with bird life - watch out for the marsh harriers who live in the area.

Accommodating six people, the décor has a 1930s theme, with walnut wooden floors and some original 1930s furniture. Two adult twin bunkrooms are located in the 'stern' of the property while the kitchen and bathroom adjoin the large lounge and diner. There is a comfortable double sofa bed... Read more

My wife & I have stayed here twice. First in 2010 and again in 2011. The location is one of the best that can be found. The property is beautifully located right beside to the sea wall , west facing with the most beautiful sunsets right outside the patio doors. It is such a peaceful spot and quite private in...

This is a truly unique place that is as memorable as some of the sights that we saw around Jersey. Built by a wealthy man, used as a Nazi cantina during the war, as a clinic, and then by the Boy Scouts, this little place has quite a history. No, there's no wifi or washing machine, and we had to...

This goes down as one of the most unique places I've stayed. The heritage society has done a fantastic job of bringing this 1930's folly back to its art deco roots. Situated right on St. Ouen's Bay - with private beach access, this is the perfect place to get away from it all. But Jersey is so small that if...

About the neighbourhood
Barge Aground is located on the shore of St Ouen's Bay - an expanse of golden sand exposed to the full force of the Atlantic. These waves make St Ouen's Bay one of the best surfing beaches in Europe. The hinterland, of sand dunes, farmland and St Ouen's Pond - the largest natural freshwater pond in the Island - comprises Jersey's only national park.

Jersey is thoroughly British but with a distinct French flavour. Although firecely loyal to the Crown for more than 800 years, the French influence lingers on in local surnames and place and street names. The capital St Helier is packed with continental style bistros, restaurants and pavement cafes.

You do not need a passport to visit the Channel Islands unless you intend taking a day tri... more
