Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Pure Relaxation
This cottage has the most spectacular views on three sides of the cottage .It’s location is remote enough to experience the beautiful surroundings .The cottage itself provided everything we needed with the added bonus of a huge sunroom. We were able to use the very sturdy canoe to explore the area and hearing the Loons everyday was exciting.Altogether a very enjoyable stay.

Comfortable, rustic cottage, perfect for an unplugged family holiday
My family spent a lovely week at the Bakers' cottage this August. It reminded me of my family's childhood cottage: pleasantly rustic, but clean and with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.
The cottage’s location, on a point of land projecting out into Mackenzie Lake, meant there was a more or less continuous breeze that kept the mosquitoes at bay.
Every morning we sat and drank our morning tea on the covered porch overlooking the lake, while hummingbirds entertained us with their aerial battles, fighting for control of the sugar-water feeder.
Our young boys enjoyed the simple pleasures of swimming, canoeing and playing around the cottage and grounds. There is also a small river nearby that we explored in the canoe, investigating the beavers’ dams, lodges and marshes.
Just offshore behind the bonfire pit, is a good fishing spot, where my sons and I drifted in the canoe, casting our lines in, catching bass after bass.
The cottage is only a 40-minute drive to Algonquin Park’s East Gate. So, one day we spent the whole day there, taking some of the guided hikes and also a naturalist’s presentation in the evening.
The Bakers’ cottage is great for a simple, unplugged (but, yes, there is electricity), family holiday. Our boys have already told us that we’re coming back again next year.

Lovely cabin on a beautiful property
The Bakers' cottage is homey and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The property is beautiful and private with lots of little spots to sit and enjoy the lake, birds and sunshine. My dog was in heaven! The campfire is situated up on a lovely spot that overlooks the lake and is quite magical on a cloudless night. The one downside was that the dock had been damaged the previous winter and had not been fixed before my stay in June, but there was still great swimming off the flat rocks and my 4 year old niece had no problem enjoying herself in the water immediately. The veranda is huge and has a large picnic table that makes bbqing and eating outside easy. I was sad to leave such a perfect little spot!

Hello Amy. We were sorry that the dock had been seriously damaged by the ice over the winter and we did not have time to get the new one in place for your stay in June. Now it is there! Have a look at the pictures. I think you - and your dog - would enjoy it again even more now. Brian Baker
