Incredible experience
I booked a solo trip and stayed for 2 nights. Emma was very helpful and friendly. The hut is very cosy, clean and has everything you need. The log burner was fantastic and very easy to use. Emma left a guide with walks around the area and the Peak District which was very useful. It was nice to be around nature, and to wake up surrounded by cows and the free range chicken. I would highly recommend a stay here!

Amazing place to stay!
Couldn’t recommend this place enough. The shepherds hut has everything you would need and more. The log burner was very efficient and kept the hut warm. Shower was nice and warm and lovely to have towels heated on the towel rail! There are some beautiful places surrounding to walk to. Emma was extremely friendly and helpful, a great host. Highly recommend a stay here!

Absolutely loved it!
Spent 2 nights at whitelee on our way to the Lake District. Not only is the shepherds hut itself brilliantly appointed with a fantastic shower room, really soft towels, and a great kitchen, but the surroundings are also stunning! We went on a lovely walk on our first morning down to the river, and a mile in the other direction is the lovely Ships Inn pub. Really delightful to wake up and see lambs and chickens in the field next door! We also really appreciated the welcome email telling us all about the nearby farm shop. Got some great food for our trip, and felt really cared for. Can’t recommend enough.

A perfect Christmas
We stayed over Christmas, 24th to 27th in the Dane Valley Hut. We started to relax as we saw the fantastic country side driving down the lane to the farm and when we entered the hut we knew this was going to be perfect. From the decorations Emma had put up to the personal message to us (could not meet us due to covid restrictions) and the quality of the fixtures and fittings in the hut we knew this was going to be our perfect Christmas. There was every thing we needed to cook a full Christmas dinner which shows how well the kitchen was equiped. With a log fire burning and the views it was a Christmas to remember.

Lovely place
Our host Emma was very friendly, helpful and attentive. We asked if there much around and her suggestions were great, if youre unsure where to walk or go for food ask Emma. The shepherd huts are extremely clean and very cosy, theyre much bigger than I expected and have everything you could need. The views are stunning, if youre looking to escape from the buzz of day to day lifr this is the perfect place. The whole surrounding location is a real hidden gem, we've already made plans to visit next year.

Peace and tranquility
We stopped in hen cloud, and were met by Emma the owner who can’t do enough for you The shepherds hut was beautiful, it had everything you could need. Every detail was of a high standard; it was comfortable and cosy, with the log burner it heated very efficiently and stayed warm. The views from the hut were breathtaking, I could sit on the porch all day admiring it. If you want to get back to nature and away from the conformities of modern life this is the place to go! Waking up in the morning to the sound of pheasants and bird song, the walk down to the river behind the farm is beautiful and if you are lucky you might see some deer like we did! The general area has lots of hiking routes to explore...the Roaches, hanging stone, Luds church. The local pub (the Ship inn) is quaint and serves good food and Winkle brewery is a must to visit for a pint or a coffee on the way back from your trekking. We will most definitely be visiting again, highly recommend visiting here.

Absolute bliss - definitely recommend
From the minute we arrived we knew we wouldn't want to leave! We stayed for two nights and the huts are really beautiful. The care and detail of how they were made to the little touches Emma has done inside really make it such a comfortable and lovely stay. The views from the huts are lovely and the heat from little woodburner was brilliant. The brewery night (first Friday of month) is definitely recommended and the walks from the huts are good plus the bonus of the pub nearby too. Listening to the stags in the morning as well as the pheasants was a lovely way to wake up. Can't recommend these huts enough - Emma was really welcoming and helpful too. Go and stay here!

About the neighbourhood
Located within the first National Park in the UK, the area of Wincle is sparsely populated and surrounded by spectacular scenery with glorious rolling hills, densely wooded valleys and stunning moorlands all around. Such a rich diversity can be enjoyed in a number of ways - on foot through the various public footpaths criss crossing the area; on a pedal bike (for the brave and fit!) on horseback, or in a car. Within close walking distance (a mile) the village offers a collection of super amenities: Wincle Brewery, The Ship Inn and Danebridge Fisheries. Slightly further afield in nearby villages there is Blaze Farm ice cream farm, more good food pubs, cafes and even a wedding venue.

How to get there
As a rural location, the easiest way to reach us is by car or bike as public transport does not come directly to the village. We are centrally located to the towns of Macclesfield (Cheshire), Congleton (Cheshire), Buxton (Derbyshire) which all have a train station; and Leek (Staffordshire). All offer taxi's which will come to Wincle for around £20 per journey. We are 40 minutes from the M6 motorway, or an hour from the M1. We are 50 minutes from Manchester Airport or 1hour 10 minutes from East Midlands airport.
