Watermill
Bradbourne Mill is a collection of historic, Grade II properties located in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire, Peak District. The Water Mill, which originally milled corn and wheat since the 1500s, has been lovingly converted into a 16-person holiday rental, which houses luxury fittings and many of the original historic workings. Such features inside the property include the ancient stonework, oak beams, and preserved water mill machinery; providing you with a stunning insight into the building’s history. Attached to the outside of the property is the famous Water Mill wheels themselves. The original wood and iron waterwheels have been restored and turn from time to time, fed by the waters of the ancient mill pond adjacent to the property.

A Wonderful Property
The Water Mill is a wonderful property just north of Ashbourne. It is short of nothing and even has the workings of the actual water wheel behind a large glass screen. The property is spread over 3 levels, which may be an issue with very small children as there are a lot of stairs, with all the rooms beautifully furnished. Sophie, the property manager, could not have been more helpful with excellent communications throughout. Hopefully we can return and spend more time in this wonderful location.

Thanks for the memories.
Everything about The Water mill was beautiful and the perfect setting for a family celebration.
Particular appreciation goes to the family for all the help and advice we received. Their hospitality was absolutely awesome.
The picnic area, the town of Ashbourne and the village of Tissington were beautiful places in which to spend time.
We look forward to returning.

Being only footsteps away from the Peak Park we are in a prime location for anyone wishing to explore beauty spots and hidden gems, including the gorgeous village of Tissington! Great location for a memorable family celebration
12 of us across three generations of the family stayed at the Water Mill for a long weekend in July to celebrate a significant birthday. Couldn’t be a better location with plenty of space for the grandchildren (2-9 years) to play both inside and out. Kitchen was very well equipped and the variety of bedrooms worked really well so families could stay together and all had their own bathroom. David and Sandy were excellent hosts as was the manager Sophie in arranging the accommodation in the way we wanted and answering all questions promptly. The surrounding area is beautiful with Dovedale very close - shame the weather didn’t play ball! Really enjoyed the picnic area for ball games etc and Pooh sticks and relaxing in the hot tub.

Amazing Property in Derbyshire!
We had a group of 16 of us stay here in May and it couldn’t have been a more perfect place! The rooms are lovely, clean and can be set up as twins or doubles. The living area is beautiful with the original mill features in it. The kitchen is great, we had a private chef for two days who cooked in there just fine for 16 of us - bonus of two dishwashers! The outside eating area was spacious and we enjoyed multiple meals in the backyard. We booked yoga and jewellery making which were both amazing recommendations from the welcome pack. The property was well equipped for help as well with a guide/manual, and the owner was so lovely and helpful at all times. Have nothing bad to say about this place and would recommend it for anyone considering. The building is so nicely laid out and holds wonderful character of some of the leftover water mill features.

The BEST of the BEST!!
I have been lucky enough to stay here twice now over the past 2 years, and all i can is WOW! It's absolutely incredible. The hosts are amazing, the property is everything and more, and even more beautiful than the pictures! I cant wait to return this year in November with my loved ones to celebrate my 30th!x

The Amazing Water Mill
Thank you for hosting us Sophie, David & Sandy. Our family stayed at the Water Mill over Christmas. We all immediately felt at home in the beautiful accommodation and surroundings. Every little detail had been thought about from the wonderful luxury welcome pack to the Gazebo covered Hot Tub. The information provided for restaurants, pubs and walks etc. was excellent. Sophie kindly recommended a local butcher for our Christmas Dinner and personally delivered the food to our door, amazing service, which was very much appreciated. To our delight, David & Sandy gave us a demonstration of the Water Mill actually working and told us about the historical importance of the Mill to the local villages. I highly recommend the Water Mill to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in luxurious surroundings. We look forward to returning soon.

Wonderful stay

Stunning! Amazing! Everything you want plus more…
My family and I stayed at this beautiful stunning cottage for 3 nights to celebrate my birthday and we were all amazed at how stunning the place was, from the bedrooms to the kitchen to the bathrooms and lounges the whole cottage was just WOW! The scenery/views and walks were breathtaking, it even has a hot tub! The welcome hamper was lovely and much appreciated. Thank you to all that made our stay so welcoming and wonderful. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone or any group that is looking for somewhere to get away to.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😊

Just got home from a fab 3 night weekend stay at the WaterMill, Bradbourne.
Thank you Sophie, David and Sandy for a fab weekend at another of your gorgeous cottages. This time our group of 14 adults stayed at the Water Mill. It was clean and welcoming and we made the most of both the lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. The cottage was so well equipped and David was so very responsive to a potential leak in one of the showers. We enjoyed the walk to the Sycamore Inn for Sunday lunch - this is a must. Thank your I'm sure we will be returning in the future for a third stay 😜😜

David (the Owner) is so grateful that you informed us immediately of the light dripping sound – it was simply a loose part that he was able to fix within 30 minutes of your initial notification. Fantastic service with a smile as always! We do pride ourselves on our prompt responses and any queries on how appliances work, or any issues during your stay, do let us know as we’re very happy to visit and fix/ show how appliances work! We are over the moon to hear you used our laminated map to walk to the Sycamore Inn; you will always receive fantastic food and customer service at our local pub. We certainly hope to welcome you back for the third time and wishing you a beautiful 2023 ahead 😊

The best family holiday
Stayed here with 14 family members in August for 7 nights and we had the best time! We felt welcome from the start, the owner came to check on us and showed us around and we were welcomed with a lovely hamper. The whole house is just beautiful, the living room is very spacious as is the kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and nice big bedrooms. The hot tub was lovely and we had the gazebo over so even on the rainy day we could sit out and relax. They had plenty of chairs and tables outside to relax and eat outside, we used the BBQ a few times too. The stream and private garden was about 5 minute walk and was lovely, the kids had so much fun paddling in the stream. If we needed anything Sophie was happy to help and got back to us quickly. We hope to return in the future, thank you for a lovely stay.

The Mill is a short distance from a footpath and stream which joins the Tissington Trail and conveniently connects to Carsington Water; offering our guests good walking and cycling opportunities from the holiday cottage.
The Water Mill is within driving distance of Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Carsington Water, Dovedale and Alton Towers.
Getting around
We would suggest travelling to and from The Water Mill via car as the easiest mode of transport. However, if you wish to travel via train and then taxi/ bus to the property, we would suggest using the local buses and Ashbourne Taxis. Alternatively, if you have a larger party at The Water Mill, we would recommend hiring a coach from Warrington Coaches located in Thorpe to take you to and from Peak District attractions

How to get there
From Ashbourne, you will need to head north on the A516, and after a couple of miles, you will take a right-hand turn before a pub called The Bentley Brook Inn. This road is the B5056, marked as leading to Bakewell, Parwich and Longcliffe. Three miles down this lane you will reach a cluster of buildings on your right-hand side. The property located left of the 'Bradbourne Mill' sign is The Water Mill.
Coming from the North?
As you travel past the turning for Parwich village, you will need to carry on along the B5056 towards Bradbourne. Continue until you reach a cluster of buildings on your left-hand side. Slow down on this bend as you will need to turn into the drive that turns back on itself before the 'Bradbourne Mill' sign.
