Upper Bank House, set in a quiet, rural village near Ashbourne, is a period, character holiday cottage with the beautiful Peak District countryside on its doorstep.

The cottage was recently refurbished to a very high standard allowing guests to relax in peace and comfort. The kitchen has an integrated hob and oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, kettle, toaster and as many cooking pots and utencils as you're likely to need. We visited the area to celebrate my sisters birthday over the weekend. Friday night a great meal @ Red Lion about 200 yards away so didn't have to worry about drink/drive. Back to a really comfortable residence and good sleep. Saturday to Carsington Water, rest...More

Thanks Jim, really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We try very hard to make the cottage comfortable, a real "home from home". We're lucky to have the Red Lion so close, a smashing pub with real ales and a great chef serving up...More

About the neighbourhood
Of particular note to our guests is our village pub - The Red Lion. It is one of just three pubs in the Ashbourne area to feature in the CAMRA guide and is also very well noted for its food. The chef was featured in Derbyshire Life in 2014. As well as being a great pub to visit whilst here in Kniveton, the pub is also an old fashioned 'locals' pub regularly used by villagers. The atmosphere is warm and friendly.

There are a number of supermarkets in Ashbourne, just a couple of miles, away should you need to stock up on food/drink whilst you're here.

How to get there
Easily accessible from either the M1, M6 or A50, most guests will follow the signs to Ashbourne then take the B3035 out of the town following signs to Matlock. After just a couple of miles you drop down into the village of Kniveton, pass the pub on your left at the bottom of the hill, then as you start to climb up again, Upper Bank House is on the left 75 yards on.
