Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Perfect family escape to our own fairytale woodland
We really felt like we had won the lottery with this little gem. Beautiful location, with lodges spread out well so you can truly have some privacy. The lodge has everything you need and is kept in IMMACULATE condition - super spacious too. Selina and Charlotte who look after you, are more than accommodating. The hot tub looks over the fields and woodlands, and is perfect for watching the sun rise, or the moon! The team work hard on all the lodges to keep them in such a good condition. The welcome cake on arrival is also a lovely touch. There's a small kids play area which entertained our son daily, and plenty of space to walk any furry friends. We spent most morning's just lounging around the lodge, enjoying family time together (our jobs mean we rarely are together as a four) before heading out on afternoon walks in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes, which is only a short and beautiful drive away. The nearest shop is about a 15 minute drive into Kirkby Stephen, which is a great little village. Lots of quirky shops too. I can highly recommend the Fat Lamb and the Black Swan for places to go for food and drink (both allow pooches too!) I can't wait to come back to this little place in paradise. Thank you to all the team!

Excellent in every way
With the uncertainty over travel restrictions we decided to book somewhere in Cumbria as we had not ventured that way before. After searching on the internet we stumbled across the Lodges at Artlegarth and there was one lodge left for the week we wanted. The reviews looked good and the price seemed very good value. The lodge surpassed all expectations. It is spacious for 2 adults and 3 teenagers and has everything you need from towels to wifi as a well stocked/equipped kitchen and a hot tub. Also little touches such as fresh bread, butter, eggs, milk and a cake on arrival was a lovely gesture. There is also lots of information provided in the lodge to make the most of your stay eg good places to eat, recommended walks, activities and places to visit. The village of Ravenstonedale is a 20 min walk away and has some lovely pubs - The Black Swan in particular was a well needed stop after a 3.5 hour walk. I highly recommend the lodges and we will be back for another visit.

A fantastic getaway !
What's not to like ? The lodges are extremely well built, cosy and well equipped. All are very private with lots of space and Mallards is closest to the nearby woodland which meant we saw lots of red squirrels and the Dales ponies plus loads of birds. If you want to get away from everything this is the place to be ... having a glass of something nice in the hot tub watching the moon and stars. We will definitely be back.

Great Stay
As a family of four and a small dog we have a fabulous short break between Christmas and New Year. The lodge was fabulous, clean and well maintained and in a really peaceful beautiful place. We woke each morning to lightly falling snow and it was so Scenic. There are a number of walks in the area some more challenging than others and we took the easier flatter routes, but no less beautiful. It was great to come back and get warmed up and relaxed in a hot tub. The children enjoyed the Park area and walking on the site, Crossing a small stream on the little bridges. It was wonderful to arrive and being supplied with some lovely basics, including a delicious chocolate cake, some lovely bread, eggs, butter and milk. It's quite quiet when we went as we are on the cusp of the 3rd lockdown however as an area it seems to have lots of options in terms of places to eat walks and activities. When we are able we really look forward to returning. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Hideaway Anniversary Weekend
1st class fantastic stay! The lodge is beautifully situated, very private and absolutely spotless. The little extra touches were really appreciated especially in the current climate, it really wasn't expected. There was a lovely big victoria spongecake, milk, a crusty loaf of bread & butter left for us. A welcome book brimming with loads of info about the lodge, the local walks & local cuisine. We were also kindly supplied with a travel cot & highchair. It was a very overdue relaxing weekend with our 5 month old baby & little dog. We were so comfortable in the quiet corner of nowhere, bubbling away in the hot tub just outside the patio doors. Absolute heaven. Thankyou!
