Just Wow - Fabulous
Simply put this was heaven for 4 nights - We booked to take my elderly parents for a small break , and had the most wonderful time in Lapwing Lodge , just perfect for the 4 of us and 2 dogs . Everything you need , and wonderfully clean and furnished. Welcome goodies were a real treat , with Cake , Bread , Butter and milk. The Hot tub was perfect on the outside decking , clean and hot . The surrounding area was just wonderful and easily missed ( as we have ) when traveling to to the Lakes on many previous occasions , Its an area we haven't stayed before , but I would highly recommend over the much busier Lakes , easy to drive around the surrounding areas which we did on a couple of days , even went to Ullswater ( under 40 mins ) - The local pubs Kings Arms is recommended and I can see why - we ate there 2 nights running , lovely atmosphere and great food and service , busy as well even for a Monday( booking recommended ) . The information pack is worth a read and very informative , fortunately and unfortunately we had to use the Vets ( out of ours ) as one of or dogs was quite sick one day , although we could have possibly waited till the next morning , but she hadn't improved and we called Pendragon Vets in Kirkby Stephen - after 2 calls and 3am trip over ( <15 ms away ) all was sorted with a quick injection - The local vets were wonderful and for 24 hr emergency appointment was only charged a little over our normal standard vets . While she took the next day to rest with my wife who i have to say enjoyed a peaceful relaxing day at the lodge , we went off to explore further surroundings. All in all its a wonderful relaxing place to be , and whilst we don't often repeat places we have stayed previously , I for one feel i could easily make an exception and will certainly return.

A place to relax and get away from it all!!
We have stayed in this lodge about five times now and every time we arrive we have the same feeling of relaxation as soon as we unlock the door. There is always a fresh cake on the table and the place is spotlessly clean. The hot tub is great, the kids are in it as soon as we arrive!! It is a great place for the dogs as you have plenty of open space and walks in the hills to wear them out. If you want to get away from it all this is the place for you. See you again later this year!!

Weekend visit
Enjoyed a very relaxing and pea full weekend in Lapwing, the lodge was extremely clean, comfortable and warm. A lovely welcome pack of bread, butter, eggs, milk and a home made cake. We made the most of the bad weather by reading and listening to the radio, before heading over to one of the pubs in the village. One day it snowed which was a surprise, but it didn’t last long. The dog loved the outdoor space to run in and of course the hot tub was the essential part of the trip. Thanks for providing this lovely property.

Back again for an amazing visit, customers since 2012
We have been coming to Artlegarth lodges since 2012, after having to miss one year due to covid we are back. We stayed in the Lapwing be had an amazing time. We loved the extra touches which have been in place for a few years now and make a huge difference. A lovely homemade sponge and all the essentials to get you started. We have stayed in lapwing for years and have always loved its location and character. This time we were happy to see some great changes to the furniture and a lot of new quality cups/glasses and kitchenware. All of the equipment is modern and works so well! The lodge has had recent carpet throughout which freshens everything up. We didn’t use the bunk room but was nice to see the quality work that had taken place to make it more child friendly. The lodge is always lovely and warm and has a lovely home feel as it’s so traditional. The hot tub was on point as always and we love it so much as it’s sunken. The only negative was we couldn’t find the Bluetooth speaker but it’s not a biggie! We probably just didn’t look in the right place. We love the location of the lodge as it has so many lovely pubs. Although most were closed due to season / maintenance we did manage to get to the Kings Head and I must say the new owners are amazing! Made us feel so welcome and visited most days for drinks and Sunday for food. We come to Artlegarth for the remote feel and the amount of walking you can do without needing your car and it just never gets boring! We were even lucky enough to see the fighter jets training in low pass flying during our stay, what a treat! I hope the site continues to stay this way and doesn’t get too commercial as it really is the best uk holiday destination for us currently. It was lovely to meet Selina who was very helpful and asked us if we needed anything which was a lovely touch. Looking forward to many more visits ahead, keep up the amazing work. Louis and Serena.

Birthday Celebration
Loved the location - middle of no where so fantastic for a "get away from it all". Plenty of place for our two dogs to investigate and watch out for the red squirrels, a real treat. The hot tub was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed it albeit the whether could have been a little more friendly. Comfortable bedroom and warm throughout. TV is a little small for the size of room and distance from the sofa but that is very much a personal choice (or sign I need new specs). Only point for improvement I could find was no pint glasses and no steak knives. We spent time in Windermere, Gretna and York (this was a bit of a drive but our choice) all doable with plenty of time to spend in each so good for exploring Northern England. The extras offered on the web site are worth the money and would recommend anyone to consider them for the added extra. We had flowers, prosecco, birthday lanterns banner and balloons, enjoyed them all. There are some lovely touches on arrival but I wont spoil the surprise, go and see it for yourself

What a Treat!
In these very strange times of Covid-19, what a treat it was to get away from it all with the family on a staycation at Artlegarth Lodges. To arrive at a warm lodge with a fantastic Victoria sponge awaiting was a wonderful start and welcome. Great lodge, great stay and great walks too, although a little drenched at times with the weather. Well done and we'll be back.

Perfect luxury lodge
This is the perfect location for a bit of peace and quiet. Remote check-in with email received the morning of arrival with contact details and lodge entry codes. A lovely surprise welcome treat was very much appreciated. No need to bring toiletries, tea, coffee sugar etc as these all come supplied along with a loaf of fresh bread, eggs milk and butter. All the furnishings were of a high standard and very comfortable. We loved sitting watching all the wildlife right outside our window, red squirrels, woodpeckers, rabbits and baby lambs. The team who look after the lodges were amazing, always greeting us with a cheery hello, giving helpful advice about local walks and where to eat. The hot tub was a treat after long walks to help sooth those tired muscles. We will definitely return and would highly recommend a stay here. The trip advisor award they recently received is truly justified.

Truly blissful
I can not recommend Artlegarth Lodges enough. This was our third visit to Artlegarth and it won't be our last. The lodges are set up beautifully for arrival and the complementary cake was to die for. A special mention to Selina and the team for everything, thank you for making us feel comfortable, safe and at home. Thank you again!
