Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Wonderful Lodge
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Curlew Lodge over New Year. It was spotless on arrival & the little personal effects were lovely, these being fresh milk, eggs, bread & a gorgeous chocolate cake all unexpected but very much appreciated. The weather wasn’t great but we didn’t let it put us off, the local village has a very pleasant (dog friendly) pub called the kings Head which we walked to a few times. The nearest town Kirkby Steven has some nice shops & cafes, also a supermarket for supplies. We all look forward to going back again.

Amazing Break Away
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this break! I originally booked for January for a 50th birthday present, but due to work commitments, I had to cancel but Jennie and Selina were so accommodating, and allowed me to move the dates over to another time to suit me. Onto the actual break, it was incredible. We arrived at the lodge to find the hot tub warmed and ready to get into, a fresh cake in the cake stand, along with a fresh loaf of bread, milk and some butter. Tea, coffee and sugar were filled so we could have some drinks and a small bite to eat. Just little touches that meant a lot! Everything was clean, tidy and well stocked and the information booklet was very informative and helpful. The bunk bed room had a star projector light and cute pillows, with a telescope and some books on the night sky which came in handy as the sky was so clear! The other bedrooms had plenty of room and the beds were really comfy. We had enough towels including separate towels for after being in the hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed, truly a home away from home. We had an amazing time and I wouldnt hesitate to book again!

Our stay in Curlew Lodge
Myself & my friends had a fantastic stay in Curlew lodge. We had everything we needed and more. The lodge was clean and well laid out. The hot tub was lovely to sit in, even in January! There were a few fantastic extra touches like fresh cake and eggs. Would highly recommend.

Lovely stay
Having looked around for a place to stay we came across these gems. These log cabins are lovely and very well located if you want peace and quiet. The cabin we stayed in was called Curlew and like all cabins comes complete with a hot tub. The hot tub was situated within the decking area at the back and the views where lovely over looking the hills and sheep and grazing. The cabin itself is spacious and very well presented with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Location wise it's about 30 minutes to some really great National trust attractions and would recommend taking in Sizergh castle (which isn't a castle) Overall a great place, which can be enjoyed by all

Hidden Gem!! 💎
This place is amazing. It’s a mile walk away from 2 pubs, 1 through a field or one on a road. A short 4 mile drive to Kirkby Steven if you’ve forgotten anything too. When we first walked into the lodge it was immaculate, clean and extremely cosy. We had the pleasure of meeting Selina at the lodge who’s customer service skills are just brilliant. She would answer the phone if we ever needed her, gave us tips for walks- we even had some friends staying with us for New Year’s Eve, which she provided extra bedding which was no hassle for her at all. The lodge has everything you need and there were some very sweet touches when you get there, a nice cake, fresh bread, fresh butter, milk etc.. The hot tub was emptied and cleaned for our arrival, which Selina told us happens every time new guests arrive. There’s a number of walks that start right from the site and some amazing cycling routes too. We just had the best time, go and experience it for yourselves.

Christmas at curlew cabin
Stayed with my family in the curlew cabin for Christmas and our sons 5th birthday and had an amazing time! Cabin was spotless and completely equipped with everything you need. We stayed for 7 days and selina was so helpful came out to our cabin within 20mins when we had a problem with the hot tub temp. Such a lovely set of people. The little pub on site was very pretty and become our local for the week. Would definitely recommend and looking to book up again for xmas 2020

Lovely stay
Second visit this year and both times enjoyable. Always a warm welcome and lovely cake on arrival. Lodge is a bit dated and the carpet is impractical, especially when entering after being in the hot tub. That said the rooms are large and clean, a bonus if you have to spend time indoors due to the rain. The view from the lodge is lovely and the outside area is a very safe place for children to run around a play.
