Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Great Welcome, Great Lodge, Great Break
Our second visit to the Lodges and another fab short break experienced. The Lodge was an instant hit with all age groups, daughter wanted to live there for ever and the thoughtful welcome touches; a delicious chocolate cake, flowers and even a few dog biscuits for the mutt were all fantastic and made the experience a homely one. Well done Jennie and Neil and best I start saving up for the next visit!

Luxuriously Amazing!!!
We booked this accommodation as it was advertised as luxury and accessible, often the two don’t go together! This place ticked every box for us, we are a family of 2 adults, one a self propelled wheelchair user(T4 Paraplegic), me(the wife) and our 7 month old twin daughters. The lodges at Artlegarth are everything you could want and more! Cots & high chairs provided. Ramped access, accessible showers and sinks, large bedrooms, decked area, all unbelievably stylish! Each lodge has been individually furnished and the decor is so beautiful we’ve been inspired to copy ideas for our home. There was nothing that we could think of that wasn’t provided, if we could’ve thought of anything, the owners were on hand to provide it... Without doubt the best accommodation we’ve stayed in in the UK, with most definitely the best scenery- breathtaking. Memories were made x

A truly fantastic experience all round
We booked all 3 lodges for a family birthday and I can say from the moment we booked, we have received exceptional service. Jennie, Neil and their team have left no stones unturned and have thought of just about everything. We arrived and in our lodges were lovely thoughtful welcome packages, bread and milk and a cake that my children devoured almost immediately! The lodges are more luxurious than I thought possible. The lounge, diner and kitchen was huge and a great area for socialising. The bedrooms were beautiful and all individually styled and the showers amazing! The lodges really are in the most picturesque place - quiet and safe and each one has a hot tub which gave everyone lots of fun. We bbq'd during our time there, the children played on the playground next to the lodges that has been built and there was a green area for my boys to play endless hours of football. in addition the the amazing lodges, Jennie and her Team provided us with additional services including a chef who came and cooked for us one evening at our lodge, she organised a meal nearby in a beautiful pub setting and gave us plenty of advice on local walks and things to do in the area. They were always available if we needed anything, not that we did as everything had been covered but it was nice to see how friendly and active around the lodges they were. I would recommend this place to anyone - it caters for everyone and we will definitely be making it an annual visit. Thank you Jennie and Neil for what can only be described as the most perfect relaxing family break away xxx

Truly Amazing Lodge with Outstanding Countryside Views
We stayed in Swaledale Lodge for a large family weekend celebration. The lodge is extremely comfortable and very spacious, the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner and vaulted ceilings adding to this feature. It was much bigger than I expected. The style and quality of the interior decor is second to none and has definitely got that 'WOW' factor. An added bonus to this lodge is that the beautiful countryside views can be taken in from indoors or while relaxing in the luxury hot-tub. A truly amazing place that we will definitely be returning to. I would not hesitate to recommend Swaledale Lodge to anyone. It is obvious also that the proprietors aim to please.

This really is luxury!
We had stayed in the 'bird' lodges a number of times and always thought they were very well appointed - best quality everything. But then Jennie and Neil offered us a new 'sheep' lodge. Wow! It was absolutely stunning. The open plan living area was spacious without feeling exposed, the 3 bedrooms were welcoming with extremely comfy beds and the 2 on-suite bathrooms were simply beautiful. The state of the art hot hub was great to come back to after a long walk and the underfloor heating kept the whole lodge warm and inviting. The views from the huge picture windows were panoramic and made our entire stay totally perfect. If you ever need to know the definition of 'luxury ' we would thoroughly recommend a visit to Artlegarth Lodges - we don't think you will find anywhere to compare!

About the neighbourhood
Artlegarth Lodges are in a perfect position for exploring both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks but there is plenty to do right on the doorstep too: Ravenstonedale lies at the foot of the Howgill and Wild Boar fells offering excellent opportunities for walking. Pamphlets are provided in your lodge for twenty local walks in Ravenstonedale and Kirkby Stephen, some of them leaving from the doorstep of your lodge. With plenty of options you can choose from a gentle stroll right through to an enthusiastic yomp. Artlegarth Lodges are a short scenic stroll (one mile) down a quiet country lane to the village of Ravenstonedale with its popular two real ale pubs, The Black Swan and The Kings Head, which both serve fantastic food.
Getting around
Local classic coach bus service is available on select days, cycling routes are excellent as well as public foot paths and fell/country walks, horse riding can be booked locally too and a car may be required if you feel the need to travel out of the full vastness of the two National Parks here.
