Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Perfect weekend
A 3rd visit to Artlegarth. A lovely lodge for our girly get away, for 6 friends to rest relax and rewind. The lodge is spacious and finished to a high standard. The location is stunning. Jennie and team are very helpful and can’t do enough for you. We will be back again. Thanks

Simply Amazing!
We hired two lodges for a family celebration and everything was just fantastic. The lodges are in an idyllic position overlooking the spectacular surrounding countryside and are equipped with everything you could need for a luxury experience. The decor is really tasteful and of the highest quality. There is a lovely welcome basket, plenty of info about the lodge, the hot tub and things to do in the surrounding area. Plenty of towels are provided which is needed for when you are in and out of the shower a lot for the hot tub. The cottages are really warm and toasty, the beds are super comfy with plenty of room. There is a Bluetooth speaker and fire stick tv in all the rooms. Honestly - everything has been thought of here and no expense has been spared. Oh and our dog had an amazing time too!

Outstanding Stay
I booked here for my mum’s 60th birthday after reading some great reviews. The lodge did not disappoint and we had an outstanding stay. The host had made a lovely cake for us to enjoy and kept the place stocked with essentials. We had a power outage one evening, it the host was very accommodating and brought a gas cooker, water and lights to our lodge to help make our stay more comfortable. The views from the lodge were amazing and we will definitely be back. Lots of lovely walks in the local area and a couple of nice restaurants to enjoy in the local village. We will be back.

Excellent
This is the 4th time we've stayed at the Lodges at Artlegarth and every time we've had a great experience. In total our party was 6 adults, 4 kids and a dog, and there is ample space. The lodges are equipped with everything you need (e.g. plenty of firewood for the log burners) and although the local pubs are excellent we didn't feel like we needed to leave the lodges much at all other than for a walk. The owners are very hospitable and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Will be returning and recommend it to others.

Beautiful location
We stayed in the Rough Fell from 8th - 12th November. What a fabulous lodge. What a view. It was amazing. The hot tub is a lovely touch. Very tastefully decorated and everything was catered for. Lots of nice touches, toiletries, cake, eggs, butter, bread and milk. Lovely relaxing break will definitely return.

Beautiful lodge set in stunning surroundings
Beautiful lodge set in stunning views. This really was a hidden gem. Lovely size beds and very spacious. Great hot tub too. Would highly recommend for a peaceful get away and only 30/40 minutes away from lake Windermere.

Perfect escape
We stayed in Rough Fell lodge last week and had the most amazing time. The lodge has absolutely everything you could need and was perfectly clean. We had our 2 dogs and two young children and we all loved it. There was lots of places to explore for the children and they loved chilly in the hot tub after a day our exploring the lakes. We saw red squirrels on site which was a bonus too. The views from rough fell were incredible, Would highly recommend

7th Visit to The Lodges at Artlegarth
Another lovely visit to Artlegarth for my wife’s birthday. We absolutely love the location of this place and is why we visit most years. It’s placed in such a beautiful, peaceful location which is close to local pubs and has some of the best country walks we have ever done. We have stayed in a number of lodges on this site. Rough Fell is one of the newer Sheep Lodges which has a lot more space and is open plan, great for families. It keeps everyone together and has some fantastic views of the site and Yorkshire Dales National Park. We liked the separate bathrooms which makes things much easier in the morning! We loved the log fire as well, had so much fun setting it up and warming up beside it. As always we are big hot tub fans and made the most of it, great being able to play music whilst chilling there as well!

Superb all round, 2nd time in a year !
We stayed here in February 2019 for my birthday, we enjoyed it so much with the facilities of the lodge but also the surrounding area and location. We decided to spend Christmas here as a family and i must say that we actually enjoyed it more this time ! On arrival we had logs for the fire, a bottle of local mulled wine and even a home made Christmas cake ! The lodge was all made up for Christmas with the tree and decorations for when we got there. We will most certainly be looking to stay again and couldn't recommend these high enough if you are looking for a luxury break away stress free ! Thank you Jennie again, but also thank you to Selina who managed our build up to and the stay this time ! Thank you

With plenty of options you can choose from a gentle stroll right through to an enthusiastic yomp. Artlegarth Lodges are a short scenic stroll (one mile) down a quiet country lane to the village of Ravenstonedale with its popular two real ale pubs, The Black Swan and The Kings Head, which both serve fantastic food.
