Offering spectacular views of the Snowy Mountains, Garrigill Lodge is located on a 100 acer rural property in the heart of Thredbo Valley. We are 15 minutes drive to Skittle or 35 minutes to Perisher or Thredbo snow resorts. Winter months In the snow season (June to September) we operate as a hosted and fully catered (breakfast and dinner) snow-sports guest house. We book guests on a room-by room basis for a meals inclusive tariff charged per adult per night (whole lodge bookings for large groups by arrangement). We encourage families with children, offering reduced rates for youngsters and teenagers. You can relax in either of our two lounges, one in front of an open log fire, after a day skiing or boarding on the Perisher or Thredbo resort slopes. Other warmer months From October to May we let the whole lodge to large groups visiting the mountains on a self-catering (and hence cheaper) basis. Whilst we list a base rate, price is negotiable, depending on numbers of beds required and numbers of nights booked. You can relax in our guest lounges, or catch up on TV after a day of bushwalking, horse-riding, mountain bike riding, fishing (by arrangement) or whatever pleases you in our fresh mountain countryside. The lodge also has an entertainment area, which the younger guests can enjoy and a bar for adult socialising. General Garrigill Lodge Crackenback is a 10-minute drive from Jindabyne and a 12-minute drive to the Perisher ski tube. Thredbo Village and Perisher Valley are both within 35 minutes' drive away. We are situated on a 100 acer hilly and wooded block overlooking a "mini" lake abundant with yabbies (yabbie catching gear provided). There are walking trails and no shortage of wild-life - roos, wallabies, deer and wombats are frequent visitors. We are not far from the Crackenback mountain-bike trail. Fishing on Lake Jindabyne can be arranged as can horse riding at nearby Pended Lee.

About the neighbourhood
This is Australias "High Country" (Man from Snowy river and all that), but our mountains are modest compared with Europe, Asia and the Americas. Abundant with marsupial wildlife (watch out for Roos on the road). The countryside is rolling grasslands and snow gum bush. A quite different experience to the dominantly fir populated woods of the Northern Hemisphere.
Getting around
As with most mountainous localities, getting around is subject to weather conditions. I big snow dumps, our roads between Jindabyne and the snow resorts are well serviced and rarely impassable. If you want to get off-road, mountain bike riding is very popular, especially in the summer months. Bush-walking also good in the warmer months (you can actually hike all the way to the top of Kosiosko on a board-walk if fit enough. If not quite up to that, some docile mountain ponies can be arranged not far from us for a guided horseback trek (much slower than that frantic downhill dash in the Man From Snowy River epic!).

How to get there
We are situated at 209 Wollondibby Road, Crackenback, NSW 2627. The number 209 signifies awe are 2.09km from the turn off from the main Alpine Way (the road to Skittle and Thredbo). The local notable landmark is the Wildbrumby Schnapps Distillery (are tastings and light meals if booked) which is on the corner of the Alpine way and Wollondibby Road. Detailed "how to find Garrigill" instructions will be provided after booking. Nearest town - Jindabyne You really need a car to get to us (4WD best as no chains required to be carried in National Park; 2WD cars can 99% reach us without difficulty and without putting chains on, but chains are required to be carried if driving to the snowfields) Parking - no problems
