The Old Salthouse is a ground floor studio apartment that underwent complete refurbishment into a contemporary living space.<BR><BR>Located within the iconic 'Barnaloft' complex located in the heart of the old fishermans quarters of St Ives known as 'Downalong'. The studio apartment is on ground level with a private parking space (which is a luxury in St Ives) right next to the front door. We have just returned from our 2nd stay in the Old Salthouse and we are still smiling 3 days later! Thank you Shirley and Tim for another lovely stay. The Old Salthouse may not have views, but when you are literally steps away from Porthmeor Beach via your own secret passageway - who cares!! We had Wine and Hot Chocolate...

The apartment was excellent, very clean, perfectly equipped and an amazing location!!! I stayed for a week with my partner and 8 year old son. We had more than enough space and the sofa bed was spacious and easy to put up and down. The apartment had everything we needed with the luxury of a car parking space outside the...

Our first visit to the Old Salthouse and we weren't disappointed. The apartment itself was very well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing holiday, we found it spacious and light, the car parking space was an added bonus. The open plan living area is fully tiled, with gas central heating and comprises a double bed, wardrobes, a large double leather sofa bed and 32" plasma wall mounted TV with 36 channels and a DVD player.<BR><BR>The kitchen is fully fitted with a breakfast bar, electric hob, oven, extractor, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. All cutlery, crockery and utensils are provided. The large leather sofa bed is ideal for 2 children to sleep on at an extra cost to cover linen.<BR><BR>The bathroom comprises fully tiled shower room with heated towel rail, wash basin and lavatory.<BR><BR>There is also an outdoor cupboard with ironing board, extra seating an airing rack and deck chairs.<BR>

Downalong is a picturesque conservation area with a maze of granite and slate houses and cottages, narrow winding streets and alleyways, all leading to either the lovely beaches or the working harbour. Porthmeor beach is a haven for surfers with golden sand and crystal water or Porthgwidden is a smaller bathing beach where seals and dolphins are seen regularly.<BR><BR>The Tate Gallery is a 5 minute walk from the apartment and so to is the Barbara Hepworth Museum.<BR><BR>Cornwall is known as the English Riviera, lying in the Gulf Stream with warm waters and palm trees growing all year round.
