Looking towards the sleeping end. One large studio room gives great sense of space.
The comfortable double bed. Can easily be folded away but few people bother.
Kitchen with bathroom beyond. Well equipped galley kitchen with all facilities.
Wood burning stove and TV. Books, maps, stereo, digital radio, free WiFi.
Magnificent view to the Pennines. Private sandstone terrace has field access and splendid open views
The Jacuzzi hot tub is normally available to guests for a small charge.

The Bower House has one large main room painted white with oak floor and beams to the roof. A huge picture window and large dining terrace give splendid views across the rolling Eden Valley to the Pennine mountains.

Extension with well-equipped galley kitchen leading to bathroom with shower over bath. Utility room with washing machine and tumble drier below. Secure bike storage and washing facilities.

Morland has easy access to the Lake District, the Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and Hadrian's Wall all well within an hour. The nearest lake, Ullswater, is 20 minutes. The local Eden Valley area has quiet roads and bridle ways making it an ideal cycling and walking base. National cycle route 71 passes the door. The local shopping town is Penrith, 15 minutes, and Kendal, Keswick and Carlisle are within 45 minutes.

We had a lovely mid-week break staying at Jubilee cottage (next to The Bower House), It is a beautiful well equipped & well maintained cottage in a stunning location. This cottage is perfect me, my partner and dogs stayed here and couldn't have asked for more! Gorgeous location and the cottage had everything you needed and more. We didn't want to come home.

The Christmas and New Year price is £400 for any three nights. Each extra night is £80.

About the neighbourhood
Morland is in the heart of the rolling Eden Valley centred on the River Eden with the Lake District on the west and the Pennines on the East. It is a quiet area but very convenient for the M6 motorway and the main London train line. It is lush farming country specialising in dairy, beef and sheep with mixed woods.

Very good touring base for the Lakes, the Pennines, the Dales and Hadrian's Wall, all within 45 minutes. Local walks and cycle rides in all directions. Fishing on the Eden, and scenic local golf courses.

Pretty local towns like Appleby and Kirkby Stephen, mediaeval castles and pele towers, attractive villages.

How to get there
Airport: Newcastle: 100.0 km
Railway: Penrith: 10.0 km
Morland is very handy for the M6 motorway. Leave at Junction 39 (Shap) from the south, and Junction 40 (Penrith) from the north, both are 8 miles, 12 minutes away. Morland is also easy from the A66 from the A1 and Scotch Corner. Take the first left after the end of the Appleby bypass, signed to Bolton and Cliburn. After passing through Bolton, take the next left and then right to Morland.
Use postcode CA10 3AX.

In Morland village look for the road to Great Strickland, Strickland Road. Greengill is the last place in the village on the right about 250 yards from the junction.

Morland is also 8 miles (12-15 minutes) from Penrith station, which is only 3 hours from London Euston. Taxis available but expensive, so be met if possible.
