Sit on the front terrace overlooking Bovisand's three golden sand beaches and watch sailing craft of all shapes and sizes, including naval vessels, entering and leaving Plymouth's busy Port.

Enjoy one of the beaches, a 2 minute walk from the Chalet or alternatively, retreat to Far Horizon's Upper Deck with a good book and lay out on the sunbeds and enjoy peace and serenity in the privacy of the Sun-Deck, with views out over the Chalet to the sea beyond.

We generally offer a 'meet and greet' service, depending on what time guests are due to arrive. Otherwise keys are left in the key-safe attached to the outside of the property. We are happy to interact with guests during their stay if they have any problems or queries or would like advice.

About the neighbourhood
Far Horizon is located within the private Estate of Bovisand Park. It is a gated, private park where visitors are welcome during the day and the main gate is locked at night. Keys are provided for guests.

There is an excellent Cafe on-site close to the Chalet and a small shop for the basics next door. There is a village shop in Down Thomas, a large Co-op and Petrol Station in Staddiscombe 1.8km, and Plymstock Broadway Shopping Centre is 4.5km. Plymouth City Centre is 8.7km or a 12 minute drive.
Getting around
Walking and cycling are easy from the Chalet but the hill leaving the Park back up to the main road is rather steep in places. Buses are few and far between out to Down Thomas (a car is recommended) but an excellent bus service runs from Plymstock (4.5km) to Plymouth City Centre and surrounding places of interest.

Plymouth has a main Railway Station and Ferry Port to France and Spain. The nearest airport is Exeter which is approximately 50 mins by car. Most attractions within the City of Plymouth, The Hoe and The Barbican can be reached on foot once in the City.
There are very many tourist attractions within the locale, too many to list here but including Zoo, National Marine Aquarium, Boat Trips, Dartmoor, Steam Trains, Pony Centre ..

Down Thomas and Bovisand Beach are clearly marked on signs within a few miles of the location. Do not follow signs for Bovisand Fort as this will lead you to the wrong side of the Bay.

SatNav (PL9 0AE) will bring you to Bovisand Lane, Down Thomas. Continue all the way down the hill, (past Cedar Park on your left) to the sea front. Pass through the main gate to Bovisand Park, past the toll booth on your right and the cafe & shop on your left. Immediately past the shop there are 4 car-parking spaces on your left, marked 1-4, (they are not in numerical order!) Park in bay 3 on the far right-hand side against the wall, marked PARKING FOR No 3 BOVISAND PARK) Residents parking only.
