Welcome to The Old Coach House, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. The Old Coach House is a stylish Grade II listed property which sleeps four guests, in two bedrooms, with two spacious ensuite bathrooms. The original building was completed in 1897, the year of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, and this former Coach House retains many traditional features from that time, including exposed Cotswold stone walls, the stone entrance archway in the kitchen and upper mullion window on the first floor landing. Intriguingly, a well-preserved historical graphite inscription from its master builder, Walter Hayward of Northleach is framed in the sitting area along with a further chalk inscription dated 1894 believed to refer to the visit of the Queen to Ireland that year. Recently refurbished to a high standard, the property has a warm, contemporary interior and modern facilities including wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen with underfloor heating, all of which blend effortlessly with the stunning character features. There is an attractive courtyard garden at the rear and allocated parking for two cars parked in tandem is available on a shared driveway. The Old Coach House is located in the beautiful village of Bourton-on-the-Water, often voted as one of the prettiest villages in England. Affectionately referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ due to the low arched bridges that cross over the River Windrush, Bourton has a number of popular pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops to enjoy and a wide range of tourist attractions on its doorstep, including the Model Village, the Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum, the Dragonfly Maze and the slightly further afield Sezincote Gardens and House, a 200 year old Mogul palace. Bourton is surrounded by the fabulous countryside which forms the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many walks and cycle routes to explore, including the challenging Winchcombe to Burford cycle route which passes through Bourton itself. Its central location within the Cotswolds makes it a good base for exploring the other lovely towns and villages in the area, including Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold. World famous destinations such as Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Bath are also easily accessible for day trips. House Rules Security deposits A security deposit of £150 is payable, which is returned after the letting period, subject to an inspection of the property. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival. In the event that the owners, or their appointed housekeepers, have to spend additional time tidying up after your departure, then the cost of this extra time may be deducted from your security deposit. Occupancy The maximum occupancy of the property is four guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than four guests at the property. Pets Regrettably, pets are not accepted. Bed sizes and configurations Master bedroom (first floor): King size bed Bedroom 2 (first floor): King size bed Bathrooms Master bedroom ensuite (second floor): Freestanding bath with a handheld shower attachment, toilet and twin wash basins Bedroom 2 ensuite (second floor): Walk-in shower, toilet and twin wash basins Heating, fuel and logs The property has a gas central heating system. Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. An initial basket of logs is provided for the wood burning stove and further log supplies can be purchased locally. Services provided The property has free wireless internet access and a Smart TV with Sky News, access to Netflix and a DVD player. There is no telephone at the property. Mobile phone reception is generally OK. Parking The property has allocated off-street parking for two cars parked in tandem. Child friendly facilities Regrettably, The Old Coach House does not accept children under the age of six years. Accessibility, health and safety This is an old, Grade II listed property with character features and two open riser spiral staircases which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency. The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk. Corporate and commercial bookings Corporate, work related and commercial bookings will require clearance from the owner. If you would like to enquire as part of a corporate group, please contact us.More

About the neighbourhood
Chipping Campden is one of the main market towns in the North Cotswolds, built by medieval traders with wealth created from the wool trade. With many thatched cottages, this is one of the most picturesque towns in the region. A notable feature of the town is the Market Hall which was built in 1627. Originally thought to be used in the wool trade, the main function of the hall was actually to give shelter to local cheese, poultry and butter sellers.
Getting around
The Cotswolds is a rural location and whilst there is access to public transport, it is highly recommended that you have a car.
