Keble Cottage is a charming property which dates back to the 15th century and adjoins the impressive Keble House, a notable landmark on the Fairford Heritage Trail and childhood home of famed Oxford poet John Keble. One of the most authentic market towns in the Cotswolds, Fairford enjoys a lovely position on the pretty River Coln and is widely known for St Mary’s church, home to 28 magnificent stained glass windows. The town has a variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants to frequent and these once served as coaching inns on the route from London to Gloucester. Today this thriving community has an extensive calendar of events, the most prestigious being the Royal International Air Tattoo which takes place in July and has an impressive military air display. Beautiful Cotswold countryside surrounds the town, offering many walking routes, cycle trails and horse riding options, lots of which meander along the peaceful river. For water sport enthusiasts, the many lakes of the Cotswold Water Park are within easy reach, and for those preferring to browse the shops, the Roman town of Cirencester is just eight miles away. This delightful Grade II listed property has a wealth of character features including semi-exposed stone walls, a wood burning stove in the living room and exposed oak beams. The homely feel of the property is enhanced by modern conveniences including wireless internet access, a Freeview TV with DVD player, an Amazon Alexa and a well-equipped kitchen. Keble Cottage sleeps four people, in two bedrooms, with two bathrooms. There is a wonderfully maintained garden, and the courtyard provides plenty of off-street parking. Keble Cottage is perfect for a small family or group of friends who are seeking a relaxing stay in a beautiful Cotswold market town. About the neighbourhood
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone 'wool churches'. The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
Getting around
The Cotswolds is a rural location and whilst there is access to public transport, it is highly recommended that you have a car.
