The location of this beautiful cottage is perfect to use as a base to explore the Cotswolds. My wife and I were here Nov 2014. We were completely comfortable in Autumn Cottage. We found the cottage clean and very nicely decorated. The kitchen is well appointed and and was stocked with a nice "starter" selection of breakfast items. There are plenty of very nice plush towels in the bathrooms. We stayed for 3 nights in Sept. after a long flight from SFO. What a delight to settle in to such a charming cottage with so many amenities. Painswick is an historic woollen town nestled quietly in the Cotswold Hills, surrounded by some of the most delightful countryside.Built of mellow Cotswold stone from local quarry, the village's many beautiful buildings can be seen as you wander around its quaint and narrow streets. The churchyard of St. Marys is well known for its 99 Yew trees (legend has it the 100th will not grow) and its unusual table top tombs.<BR><BR>The countryside around Painswick has large areas of National Trust Woodlands (140 designated footpaths criss-cross the whole area).
