Holiday Rental House
Lilac Cottage is a wonderful 2 bedroom Cotswold cottage dating from the 1830s, rated 4* by Visit England. It is a perfect mix of traditional furniture and soft furnishings with modern conveniences. There is a log fire as well as central heating (new boiler), wooden beams and crisp white decoration, retaining a cosy cottage feel. Perfectly located within short walking distance (approx 4 minutes) of everything Stow has to offer - pubs, restaurants, takeaways, tea shops, gift shops - yet situated in a cul-de-sac with, at the rear, a patio and long, fenced garden providing peace and quiet. Excellent base for exploring the beautiful towns and villages nearby e.g. Burford, Chipping Campden, Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Bibury, Snowshill. About the neighbourhood
Stow-on-the-Wold is different from most Cotswold towns in that it is built around a Market Square which is ideal for wandering around the antique, gift and clothes shops, restaurants, tea shops, pubs (some with local beers). The market cross commemorates the role Stow played in the English Civil War, in which the parish church of St Edward's also played its part. St Edward's Hall in the Square regularly hosts events such as craft & antique fairs. There are traditional independent shops such as a bakery, butcher, delicatessens and my personal favourite - the Cotswold Chocolate Shop where you can watch chocolate being made. There is also a late shop in the square and a 24-hour supermarket just on the outskirts. As previously mentioned, there is a wealth of different eateries - pub fo...
