Well equipped throughout and comfortable for 4 guests enjoying the contemporary style of open plan living, the cottage is homely and welcoming. Many guests say they so look forward to returning to the cottage and the end of the day to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine.
With walks and great pubs from the doorstep, eating in or out is easy. A lovely BBQ terrace for your sole use is a great place to watch the magical lights after dark along the valley. We have tried to add the touches of luxury to make it your home from home.

Hillcrest proved a perfect base for five midweek March nights in the southern Cotswolds. The house itself was full of character throughout - enhanced by Tricia's artistic accomplishment and style and Rob's workmanship in wood. They combined to make the interior warmly attractive, particularly the large and beautiful main bedroom with its stunning balcony views over the Golden Valley towards...

We are so pleased you loved this "quieter" part of the Cotswolds and Hillcrest cottage with its quite unique views. We feel priviledged to live in this area and it is so lovely to share it. The walking around here is pretty amazing and being spoilt with characterful pubs is such a bonus!... and of course we would love to...

Staying at the cottage was wonderful partly due to the panoramic views over the valleys. The cottage is beautiful and the artwork by Tricia proves she is a very talented lady as well as very welcoming! The cottage is central to so many stunning locations in the Cotswolds and everything is easy to get to. We had a magical stay...

So really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Hillcrest cottage. We feel it is quite special and more so, because of those stunning panoramic views. Yes the artwork and framed photos are mine and all inspired locally, I have been a textiles and home product designer, so I love painting, accessorising and playing with the colours in the cottage which...

My wife, daughter and I stayed for three days in this perfect cottage. The views are amazing and the cottage itself has everything you need for a relaxing break. The rooms are furnished very comfortably and stylishly and the kitchen is well equipped. Tricia, the owner, is really friendly and helpful. Her advice about where to eat and what to...

Management response:

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for Hillcrest Cottage.I do believe that the cottage has one of the best views around hence we have had a lot of artists to stay. Thinking as a bit of a designer myself, I have tried to match the view by making the cottage everything I would want...

About the neighbourhood
I can highly recommend a visit to the award winning Farmers Market in Stroud every Saturday am, buzzing with vibrance & atmosphere you will absolutely love it. Try the querky Stroud brewery for Saturday eve with live music & very tasty homemade pizzas. This area boasts some of the best scenery in the Cotswolds with 5 valleys converging on Stroud. Amazing walks, plenty of golf courses.
Ideal location for Gatcombe and Badminton eventing, riding ,gliding, ballooning, waterskiing on lakes, clay pigeon shooting, arts and crafts courses, antiques trail etc - we can help to organise activities too.
Getting around
Stroud train station brings you within 2 miles of the cottage from London Paddington. There is a bus service but also car hire in Stroud itself , which I can help with. Sometimes I can collect guests from the station and return but if not, there are always plenty of taxis.
Alternatively walking and cycling lets you see the beautiful countryside at a slower place or even hire electric powered bikes for that extra push up the hills.
Access
Car advised
How to get there
Airport: Bristol: 50.0 km
Railway: Stroud: 3.0 km
It is approx 1 &1/2 hours from Heathrow airport to the cottage. Easy routes via M4 or M5 motorways, though there are some beautiful scenic routes to try instead of the fast lane to get you in holiday mood. Fast trains from London Paddington direct to Stroud station, are approx 1& 1/2 hours. Stroud station is 2 miles from the cottage.
There is a local bus station in Stroud which is regular and a reliable taxi rank at the station. National coaches drop off in Stroud too.
If needing a hire car, I can usually help taking you to MVR in Stroud for a good range of cars
