Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Exactly what we wanted
Went for a quiet weekend without the kids and could not have been happier. Peacful and everything you could need for a tranquil weekend. Cosy interiors and lovely hot tub and view outside. Think it might be a great place for the kids so might take them back next year and get a lodge.

Cosy spot amid beautiful scenery
This was the second time we have visited Cynefin, and once again we had a great time. The setting is wonderful, including a private garden and stunning views of the hills. It is extremely peaceful. We stayed in one of the luxe pods, which was cosy and welcoming, and had everything we needed despite its compact size. The garden space includes a hot tub and BBQ area. Inside there is a double bedroom with en suite (lovely shower), and a kitchen area and living area with wood-burning stove. Cynefin is a great base for exploring nearby Hay on Wye and some of the other lovely towns and villages nearby. It is also ideal for rambling and hillwalking. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable and restful break all round.

Glorious rural retreat
Absolutely fabulous stay - our pod felt super private and was the perfect size for us and our wee dog. The pod was beautifully appointed and small details had all been thought of. We loved it!

The attention to detail was magnificent, fantastically designed lodge located in a lovely setting. Great choice of places to visit but you honestly won’t want to leave for too long! One of the most well provided kitchens made cooking a dream and the hot tub was a delight! Thank you 🤩

The best location for a staycation
The best location for a little staycation break. The pod itself was stunning and so comfortable - the bed was incredible! I had everything I needed and my dog loved that the pod was glass fronted so he could watch all the birds in the trees. A truly stunning stay and I can’t wait to come again.

Retreat. Reset. Relax.
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Cynefin Retreats in a 2 bedroom lodge and it was just what our souls needed. The views that the lodges look out onto is absolutely captivating. No need for a TV, just sit back in front of the log burner and watch the clouds drift over the hills. A highlight for us was stargazing from the hot tub at night. With no light pollution you will be mesmerised by the night sky. We saw 2 shooting stars! The decor throughout is superb. Designed to perfection with great attention to detail. Beds are comfy and the quality bedding will make you want to stay in bed just that little bit longer. The hot tub was a real bonus and was perfectly heated upon arrival and stayed that way for the entirety of the 4days. It was always ready to go! The woodland walk is cute, with swings hanging from large trees along the way. If you fancy a nice big stomp then carry on past the end of the woodland walk and up the hill via the marked signpost and encounter little mini waterfalls, a steep trek through the trees and breathtaking views at the peak. You may also meet a friendly white horse who comes over to say hello. We had a couple of issues upon check in but they were resolved instantly by Ed the friendly site manager, with exceptional communication from Lorna the owner. If you are looking to relax and unplug then Cynefin Retreats is a great choice. Your cares simply melt away. I would stay again in a heartbeat.
