About the neighbourhood
Ramsgate is steeped in history and rich in architectural heritage. The new Turner centre Art Gallery has just opened in Margate. Broadstairs is a magical 25 minute walk along the beach when the tide is low. Pegwell bay nature reserve is a pleasant walk or short drive away - great for a day out with the kids. Canterbury and its historic Cathedral is a 20m drive away. Very local to Ramsgate is Richborough Castle and Reculver Fort, Thanet has more Bronze age burial mounds than anywhere else in Britain. Royal St Georges and Prince's golf course are just a short drive away.
How to get there
By Car: 1.5 – 2 hour drive from London. From the M2 take the A299 towards Ramsgate. From the M2 take the A299 towards Ramsgate. Follow the signs for Ramsgate. When you reach Ramsgate follow signs for town centre/Westcliffe. At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A256 (signposted Ramsgate town centre, St Lawrence). At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the B2054 (signposted town centre) London Road. At roundabout take 3nd exit onto Grange Road (B2054) and follow the road round to the left (signposted town centre) By train: 1 hour 20 minutes from Kings Cross London. Fast speed train from Kings Cross takes 1hr 20 mins or trains from Victoria or Charing Cross Spencer Square is just a short taxi journey away from the train station.
