We stayed at Blencowe Hall for a long weekend to celebrate our 40th birthdays with friends. As soon as we saw the house we loved it - it's a beautiful old building with stunning rooms. Even the smaller rooms are so romantic and cosy. We wished we could wake up every day in the huge four poster with views out...

About the neighbourhood
Blencowe Hall is located 4 miles from the Lake District National Park. The closest lake is Ullswater, one of the deepest and the longest lake in the national park. It is surrounded mountains and there are great walks easily accessible from the Hall. The Boot and Shoe Pub in Greystoke is about 1.5 miles down the road and has a great atmosphere and excellent local food. There is also a village post office shop in Greystoke and a recently refurbished open heated swimming pool. Greystoke Castle and its 3000 acre estate is in Greystoke and the deer park of the Castle is open for public walks.

There is plenty of parking at Blencowe Hall which is surrounded by its own 30 acres of grounds and extensive gardens.

• From the South; leave the M6 at J40 and take the 3rd exit onto the A592
• From the North; leave the M6 at J40 and take the 1st exit onto the A592
• Stay in the left lane. At the mini roundabout take the 1st exit onto Haweswater Road.
• Follow the road for approx. 0.8 miles (2 mins) through the industrial estate to the next T-junction / mini round about.
• Turn left onto the B5288 (Newton Road). Follow for approx. 2.5 miles (4 mins).
