Have just returned from a 10 night stay in this cosy cottage. Central and well placed for all the local shops, restaurants etc. The cottage itself was very clean indeed, the owners only a phone call away if needed, and, responded to a little hiccup immediately. Management response:

We advertise a bath not a shower. The rubber shower hose for the taps is just an added extra for the convenience of guests. We do not normally provide towels but had offered to do so at no extra cost for these guests coming from abroad. We had temporally forgotten them, but took them within 5 mins of a reminder!...

Stayed for three nights, this cottage is lovely, great central location, great pub almost next door the golden rule you must visit. Take a boat trip from Waterhead (20 minutes walk) over to Wray Castle, then Brockhole and disembark at each for a stroll by the lake shore. Brockhole has good childrens' play area too and cafe.<BR>You can take longer boat trips from Waterhead, Ambleside to Bowness and the southern end of the lake.<BR>You can also take boat trips on the steam driven Gondola on Coniston, and on feriies which run from Glenridding on Ulswater over to Howtown for a 4 hour walk back, or to Pooley Bridge.<BR>The park in Ambleside has a good childerns' play area<BR>If it's wet use the playbarn in Ambleside to amuse your children, or visit Zeffirelli's 5 screen cinema.
