Internally, the cottage is spacious and presented to a very high standard, ensuring that guests have a thoroughly enjoyable stay all year round. What an amazing week at Miners Cottage with my family (& pooch)! This really felt like a home from home experience. The cottage is much bigger than it looks from photos and has everything you need for comfortable stay. The views are incredible and the location is perfect for many different walking routes. I hope to be back soon!!!!

Perfect cottage break.
We have stayed in many cottages over the years and Miner's has to be up there with the very best of them. It has been cleverly converted and fitted out by the owners to give masses of space and simply but comfortably furnished. Very well equipped and warm even without using the log burner! And the little garden area across the road with marvellous view across Coniston Water is an added bonus - the perfect place to sit out reading or with a drink and soak up the views. Lots of walks direct from the door too. For once this is a place where the photos really do show what you can expect. The only slight problem is the parking area, easy enough to access during the daytime but if you decide to go out for the evening and get back after dark you might find it easier to leave the car in the car park opposite the old station yard - it's only a couple of minutes away and free overnight till 9am. This is a really first class place to stay - you'd find it hard to better it!

Food for the Soul
We have been going to the Lake District for at least the last 10 years and found Miners Cottage by accident and I'm so glad we did. The cottage is home from home, everything you could possibly need is provided. There's a terrace garden at the front overlooking Lake Coniston, and what a view that is. We usually have breakfast on the terrace just listening to the birds singing and watching the sun bounce off the lake, definitely food for the soul. This will be our 5th time in the cottage and we can't wait, I've not found anywhere better than the cottage to unwind. The last time I booked I completely messed up the booking, I thought I had booked through Mandy but it wasn't, I emailed her and she immediately sorted out the booking for me. The walks are amazing and the pubs and cafe 3 minutes down the hill, everything you need is right there. Thanks Mandy!

Perfect place to relax or start an aventure.
Beautiful cottage, all the home comforts, situated at one of the highest points above lovely Coniston. Fantastic scenery and great places to eat and drink within 5 to 10 minutes walk. The owner has left an advisory guide and I recommend you read the guest books, these will only make a great holiday even better. There are no bad places to eat in town - all are good! The little garden terrace is an excellent place to relax, read, view the spectacular scenery and enjoy a glass of wine. I would revisit again at the drop of a hat. Excellent!

Beautiful cottage with stunning views
We stayed for a week at the beginning of March during the heavy snowfall. It is a stunning cottage with every amenity you might need and the views are breathtaking. Mandy was such help and so accommodating! The local pubs (The Ship) and restaurants were great and we didn’t really need to venture out of Coniston to eat! The location is perfect for hiking and we will definitely visit again! Thanks for an amazing stay :)

Magical Lakeside Retreat
My husband and I snatched a much needed week away and have spent it at Miner’s Cottage which looks down over Coniston Waters. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything needed. It is well appointed and tastefully furnished and we have enjoyed our short stay here immensely. We’d love to be able to spend more time enjoying the walks and many drives you can do, to take in and enjoy all the stunning scenery that is abound in this beautiful part of the world. Thanks to Mandy for great communications making our stay here so easy and relaxing. I would recommend Miner’s Cottage to any couple or small family.

beautiful views, perfect location & stylish accommodation. Amazing!
The house was beautiful, very tastefully restored retaining the character you would expect from a period property. It was spotlessly clean and the views from the front windows were outstanding. I can't recommend this little cottage enough, the rooms were all good sizes and the owners have thought about everything that visitors might need to know from places to eat & drink to exploring the amazing landscape. We will be booking miners cottage again very soon for our return visit. David , Lucy & Albert.

Lovely cottage with amazing views
Had a lovely weeks stay at Miners cottage. It was clean and warm and had everything we needed. The views of Coniston and the lake were amazing and we spent lots of time looking from the window seats in the bedroom and living room. The children loved the binoculars and games. We had good walks up Old Man and in Grizedale forest. We canoed on Lake Coniston which was lovely and also had a trip on the steam gondola. The fish and chip shop in the village was good. The wood burning stove in the cottage was great and made it very cosy. We will be back.

About the neighbourhood
The original village was built around the 16 century Coniston Hall, but is now very much a Victorian village with lovely tea rooms, cafes and traditional Lakeland pubs. Coniston is a favourite with walkers, cyclists, and sailors, as well as those simply wanting a relaxing getaway break.Lots of opportunities for sailing, canoeing, rowing, windsurfing, kayaking and hire of electric powered boats. Tuition and advice for all levels of ability is available from locally based qualified instructors. You will find more information from Coniston Boating Centre. Fishing with a rod licence from many of the public shores is allowed. Contact the Tourist Information Centre for full information of permits and purchase or hire of tackle.Options galore from the leisurely pedal to the energy of mountain biking. For the latter, there are the tracks in the nearby Grizedale Forest and the ultimate challenge of the route to the summit of Skiddaw from the Whinlatter Forest farther north.
Getting around
This is the perfect spot for walking directly from the cottage door, but Coniston is well positions for trips to other parts of the lakes by car. There is also a bus service that will take you to Ambleside, Windermere or Bowness in one direction, or Ulverston in the other direction.
