We had a relaxing, fun week at Barnhaven with our children (10 & 12). The garden is lovely with plenty of room to run around in and the area itself is very quiet yet only a short drive from Kendal.

About the neighbourhood
The Lake District has an astonishing number of attractions for adults, teenagers and younger children. Some local ideas from our experience are: In the dry…visit Sizergh castle and gardens or Levens Hall; tackle the ‘Maize maze' near Sedgwick; fish for trout at Esthwaite Water; go horse riding or just play football in the garden? In the rain…go swimming at the Kendal leisure centre; have a cup of tea and cake watching the cows get milked at Low Sizergh barn; visit the Lakes Aquarium; or just play board games by the fire? In the sun…drive round to Arnside and paddle in the estuary; go fishing with nets on the banks of the river Kent in Levens Park; or just break out the paddling pool? In most weathers...enjoy a beautiful walk to Helsington Church; along Scout Scar or through Brigsteer...
