From the rear door cross the small country lane/path to the walled cottage garden with views to Skiddaw mountain Country walks and strolls from the door down country lanes - to Bassenthwaite Lake, Dash Water Falls. Skiddaw mountain (the 4th highest in the Lake District) is well worth a climb for the energetic, and Keswick is only 15 mins drive away for some excellent retail therapy and much more. Ducklings hatch on the farm approx twice yearly which is most exciting to watch as they chip slowly out of their eggs! Children can enjoy many happy hours catching minnows, playing pooh sticks, building dams and running freely in the wood making camps and playing hide and seek. The village green is ideal for a game of football or cricket. Meet the other farm animals, ,our chickens who call at the doorsteps for exiting left overs from your dinner. !! From February we will be lambing . Maybe we will have a lamb or two to bottle feed. More

Interaction with guests
We are always on hand if you need directions or advice on planning your day. If interested a great attraction is for visitors is to let our ducks out of their shed in the morning and give them their food for the day. Egg collecting can be fun also , but they only lay eggs from March - October. They come into their shed at night , when it turns dusk, so it is good fun rounding them up and watching them waddle too and fro into their shed.

About the neighbourhood
Located in heart of Bassenthwaite Village, a traditional Lakeland farming village in the quieter Northern Lake District. 15 mins from Keswick and all the Lake District is within easy reach of Bassenthwaite Village. The village is ideal for families with young children, or couples alike. A relaxing quiet place to switch off and unwind. Plenty of walks from the door or after a short drive. Free parking available. Car recommended though there are buses.
How to get there
Take A591 from roundabout on edge of Keswick for approx 6 miles then turn off for Bassenthwaite Village to the right. The village is half a mile from here. When you reach the village green (ignore sat nav) and drive straight ahead past the cottage with the red door on your left, then continue straight ahead again past the new farm buildings on your left then turn right into the farm entrance and keep driving straight ahead infront of the back door of the cottage.
