Located in the heart of Bassenthwaite Village, 15 mins from Keswick, an unusual bespoke reverse style cottage for 2/3 in with chunky oak beams, overlooking the farm and animals with views towards the mountain range of Skiddaw. This cottage is ideal for a real 'living in countryside' experience. The cottage has a bedroom downstairs with double and single beds with patchwork quilts. Upstairs is open plan. On the right hand side of the open plan area is the lounge and dining area with dining table and brown leather sofa and chair, TV and DVD player, which looks towards Skiddaw mountain from the window in the dining area. Located in the heart of Bassenthwaite Village, by a stream with ducks and a rustic bridge, in the quieter northern Lake District yet only 15 mins' drive from the bustling market town of Keswick. There are walks from the door, down country lanes with wild flowers, or to fells, lakes, and waterfalls and a traditional village green and small playground. Village Inn only a short stroll up the riverside for food and drinks. The great attraction is the Indian Runner Ducks as they waddle to and fro from farm to stream. Egg collecting in the mornings (tho sometimes not in winter) is a great event, after they are let out of their shed. Keswick is only 15 mins away for retail therapy, and much more. More

Interaction with guests
We are on hand most of the time for putting you on the right tracks for your days out (if needed as we just live adjacent to the cottage. There are lots of leaflets, maps etc in the cottage to peruse. If you have forgotten an important or even unimportant item, we generally have supplies on hand. Around 10am we let the ducks out of their bedroom (shed!) so guests can have this pleasure as they waddle to the stream and set off on their day up and down stream! When it is dusk we put them back in their shed , so guests can also partake on this task, and can be left to the important job themselves even! Egg collecting is another task which you can partake (they lay from late Feb to Oct) .

About the neighbourhood
Located in the heart of Bassenthwaite Village, by a stream with ducks and a rustic bridge, in the quieter northern Lake District yet only 15 mins' drive from the bustling market town of Keswick. The great attraction here at Bassenthwaite Hall farm, are our comical Indian Runner Ducks, which waddle too and fro from farm to stream .!0am is time to let the ducks out of their shed by the stream, and it is always exciting to see them rush straight out , ducking and a diving for their morning bath, and bustling back for their breakfast. Then there is the egg collecting which is exciting, and visitors can all give a hand with all the morning ducky jobs. At various times of year we hatch baby ducklings, which are so cute of course. There are walks from the door, down country lanes with wil...
How to get there
We are 30 mins from Junction 40 on M6 Follow A66 to Keswick then at roundabout on edge of keswick take last turn off signposted Carlisle. Then travel on A591 on this road only for 10-15 mins until sign for Bassenthwaite village to the right. The village is half a mile up this lane./ On reaching the village just drive straight ahead as far as you can go then the road bends to the right. We are at the farm on the right opposite the stream. (Do not follow sat nav when you reach the village as it takes you across the village green)
