The Properties have everything you could possibly need and Mark and Pat are fantastic owners, nothing is too much trouble. Gamblesby is peaceful with a small beck running through, and the local pub one mile away has perfect hospitality. This is our second visit this year and we intend to go again. Cottage was very comfortable and warm, equipped with everything you could wish for and more, plenty of hot water, shower was the best we have come across and we have stayed in many places. Prices include bed linen and towels, Dogs are free. 3/4 night Short Breaks are available all year round. Special offers sometimes available in low season - please ask for details. Arrive on a Friday for a 3-night weekend break or take advantage of our special midweek offer and arrive on a Monday for a 4-night midweek break at the same price as a 3 night weekend break. We accept cash, cheques, debit and credit cards (except Amex). 20% deposit on booking and the balance one month before arrival. If your holiday dates are within a month of booking, the full balance will be taken. The prices do NOT include cancellation insurance. If required, please arrange your own.
ELECTRICITY IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL CHARGE. THIS IS CHARGED AT 25p PER KWH, PAYABLE AT THE END OF THE HOLIDAY.
Also, we request a £50 refundable damages deposit, payable on arrival, that will be returned within a week by BACS, assuming no damages etc.

About the neighbourhood
Penrith is a Market Town in a very convenient location for many visitor attractions - close to the M6 motorway and on the main west coast railway line. Although it is only 6 miles from stunning Lake Ullswater it doesn't rely on tourism like Keswick or Windermere. It is a great place for food with lots of cafés, restaurants, pubs, a farmers market, old fashioned grocers shops and modern supermarkets. Near Penrith is the Eden Valley with Lacy's Caves, Long Meg & her daughters, Lowther Castle, Coombs Wood as well as attractions such as Eden Ostrich World, Penrith Laser Wars, Eden Soaring (gliding) and the South Tynedale Railway. You can also visit the Hub museum & Nenthead mines up in the North Pennines.

Airport: Newcastle: 85.0 km
Railway: Langwathby: 8.0 km
Ferry: North Shields: 95.0 km
Leave the M6 motorway at junction 40 - PENRITH and take the A66 East towards Brough. At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto the A686. Follow this road for approx 8 miles towards ALSTON (in the North Pennines). After 5 miles you will reach the military-style bridge crossing the River Eden at LANGWATHBY. Continue on the A686 till you reach MELMERBY. Just as you are leaving the village, after a left hand bend, you will see a minor road to the left signposted GAMBLESBY (just after the Caravan Site on the left). Follow this road for one mile until you reach the village. CHURCH COURT COTTAGES are on the right hand side opposite St.John's Church, (shortly after the 30mph sign as you enter Gamblesby).
