Visitors to Cliburn Signal Box will find that, whilst it has been completely modernised, it has been tastefully renovated to retain its charm and many of the original features and characteristics. Its secluded location is ideal for those wishing to relax and get away from it all, those wanting to be closer to nature, or those wanting to get out and about. Nature is on your doorstep, with visitors often seeing the local red squirrels and the Signal Box uses the first floor lounge, which has windows to three sides, to give breathtaking views of the Eden Valley. At night little light pollution means that it is perfect for stargazing and if that wasn't enough, a short drive and we are walking up one of the many fells or playing in one of the lakes. What more could you ask for?...Visitors to Cliburn Signal Box will find that, whilst it has been completely modernised, it has been tastefully renovated to retain its charm and many of the original features and characteristics. The location of the signal box is amazing, very quiet and peaceful, away from the usual Lake District crowds, with plenty to see and do close by and further afield. We did not need to travel far to local attractions... Bird of prey centre and...More

We stayed in the Signal Box over the Easter holidays. The owners provided directions for finding the property and we arranged a food delivery for the week as there aren't many 'immediately' local facilities. There is space outside the accomodation to park a car and...More

About the neighbourhood
With the lakes and fells of the Lake District only a short drive and the market towns of Alston, Appleby, Penrith, Brough, Keswick and Kirkby Stephen nearby, visitors should always be able to find something of interest. Or your stay may be specific if you plan to visit the area to attend one of the growing number of events in the area, like the Appleby Horse Fair, Kendal Calling, Lowther Game and Country Fair or Potfest.
Getting around
We are 7 miles from the nearest town, so a car is recommended. However, once here the local roads are ideal for cycling, if that's one of your hobbies.
