Hanover Cottage is an impressive 5-bedroom, detached house in the centre of the popular coastal resort of Whitby in North Yorkshire. It has beautiful enclosed gardens, a conservatory and private driveway parking for 4 cars. Located on Prospect Hill (next to Prospect Terrace) you can easily reach the harbour, shops, eating places and attractions in 5-10 minutes on foot. Alternatively public transport can be accessed near to the house or you can use a local taxi service. Pannett Park is nearby and has a fantastic maritime themed play area. There is so much to do in Whitby and the surrounding coastal and rural villages.

Any short breaks at other times of the year are only made available to book 12-weeks in advance of arrival, subject to availability. We do occasionally offer 2-night weekend breaks in quieter months so please check our calendar for up-to-date availability.
About Hanover Cottage
We can accommodate 10 guests in 5 bedrooms, with 2 in each room.
Bedroom 1: Ground-floor. Twin or double room. Adjacent family bathroom.
Bedroom 2: First-floor. Twin or double room. Full ensuite bathroom.
Bedroom 3: First floor. Double room. Adjacent shared bathroom.
Bedroom 4: First-floor. Twin or double. Adjacent shared bathroom.
Bedroom 5: First-floor. Single, twin or double. Shared bathroom nearby.
The ground-floor bedroom is ideal for less mobile guests (especially with the ground floor being on one level).
The house is ideal for groups of friends or large families wanting to holiday together. We have taken care to provide everything the self-catering guest needs, with all the comforts of home and much more. We welcome families and provide items such as a travel cot and high chairs for younger guests. Sorry, we do have a strict 'No Pets' policy.
The house has been updated in recent years but retains many of its period features and plenty of character. A large, fully equipped kitchen diner provides a great social space for eating and drinking together. This leads to a spacious living room and conservatory, providing additional spaces to relax. The house has gas central heating and underfloor heating in the kitchen and ground floor bathroom. Please note the conservatory is not heated.
The beautiful, established gardens are enclosed by hedges and fencing and the driveway has a 5-bar gate. A patio area with a table, seating, parasol and traditional BBQ is great for dining and drinks alfresco. The garden and patio is easily accessed from the house but please note that there are some steps in the garden (children must be supervised).
Sorry, we do not accept any pets at the property- not even well behaved ones!
We do not allow smoking in the house.
We do not charge any additional fees.
All bed linen, duvets and pillows are provided.
2 bath towels and 1 hand towel per guest is provided.
A welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, biscuits, preserves and wine awaits your arrival!
Hanover Cottage is completely managed by the owners and we deal with everything from responding to enquiries to cleaning the property. Hanover Cottage is located on Prospect Hill, which is on the west side of Whitby. It is on the main route to the town centre and it is approximately a 5-minute walk down the hill to the centre of town and the attractions. Pannett Park is nearby and has a fantastic outdoor maritime themed adventure playground. The bus and train stations, Harbour, beach, shops, restaurants and bars are 1Km away and bus stops are near to the property. Guests can park securely on the driveway adjacent to the property, which has room for 4-5 cars. The house is slightly higher than road level with gardens to the front and side and parking to the rear, therefore it does retain privacy.
Whitby is best explored by foot and most attractions are 5-10 minutes walk from the house. Public transport is accessible within 20 metres of the property and there are plenty of local taxis available. If you want to head out of Whitby without taking the car, the train station is a 5-minute walk from the house.
