Holiday Rental House
Haglathe House is a spacious stone terraced Grade II listed building constructed in 1760. It is next door to the authentic Fortune kipper smoking shop and used to be owned by the Fortune family. The late Bill Fortune told us that they used to smoke fish in the range on the ground floor of the cottage. Haglathe House is located in one of the most attractive old streets of Whitby, one minute from the beach, 199 steps leading up to Whitby Abbey, shops, pubs and the harbour. It is tastefully furnished to a high standard and retains some nice old features like an open fireplace in an original Yorkshire Range in the first-floor living room. From the second floor window, across the rooftops, you have views of the sea all the way to Sandsend. Close to beach and cliff walks. About the neighbourhood
Whitby is a small seaside town located on the North Yorkshire coast, in the North East of England, between Scarborough and Redcar. But it is also rather more than that. Whitby is isolated from the surrounding major towns due to the protective influence of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the local geography. There are no motorways, dual carriageways, planes or high speed trains connecting Whitby to anywhere else - and it seems very likely that there never will be. Annoying when you want to get to here in a hurry, but such an important part of the unique ambience. A lost world, stuck in time and dripping with history. Spring Whitby Goth Weekend - 26-28 April Whitby Regatta - 10, 11, 12 August Whitby Folk Week - 17-23 August Autumn Whitby Goth Weekend - Dates To Be Announced
